We went to The King’s Arms Gastropub on Saturday Night. To the owners and staff, I want to thank you for a fantastic experience. I had a group of 13 people coming for dinner after the gallery show. The gallery is right in the same mews where the pub is located, so it couldn’t have been more convenient! The split second we entered, we were greeted with smiles and shown to our tables. Every single staff person and server was highly trained, warm and friendly, and completely attentive. All of the staff people have obviously been very well trained and they love working there. So I want to especially thank them every single one of them for how wonderful they all were. Not one of them dropped the ball in any possible way. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a better experience with regards to servers and staff at a restaurant.
Next, I want to talk about the menu and the food. AMAZING! The menu has so many options. There’s definitely something for everyone, but it’s interesting. It’s not just pub grub, it’s elevated and every single item that we chose from the menu was scrumptious. Everyone loved their choices. The hamburger was split between two adults and it was so big it was actually plenty for both of them. They ordered it with sweet potato fries that were crispy and delicious. Two other folks ordered the lobster grilled cheese sandwich and the lobster pieces were generous and moist. When I come back, that is what I am ordering! The calamari were perfectly prepared, crispy, and light in the correct type of batter. The lamb shank was a huge portion and was melt in your mouth fall off the bone delicious.
I also have to mention that I had ordered two charcuterie platters to be placed on the table when we arrived. They were beyond generous and beautifully composed, and I especially want to thank the chef for the beautiful presentation. It was a wow and I have to say I don’t know how they did it for $75 for each platter. I couldn’t do a platter for $75 at home if I tried and had it look as beautiful and sumptuous as this one. If you were having a party, I highly recommend asking for a charcuterie platter. It’s not on the menu but they do offer catering services.
Our experience was so wonderful, it’s a boisterous happy place with lots of people enjoying the evening. You will need a reservation, but it’s so worth it, and why not start off at the Summer & Grace Gallery right next-door? Then head over for a delicious dinner and drinks. And you can also order some pretty cool drinks, we saw some sort of a smoked, possibly whiskey being served with real smoke under glass cloches. Looked very cool! If I had to criticize anything, it would be the volume of music. Our group was average age 65, so I know that we are not the target market crowd for this wonderful restaurant. All the cool places have their music cranked up, so I really can’t even criticize this. To sum up, I highly recommend The Kings Arms,...
Read moreDisappointing and complete waste of time - unfortunately you can only get a table if you "know" the owner. We tried to make a reservation, but were unable to make one online and unable to reach anyone by phone. Deciding to try walking-in, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a party of 4 - and with no room to wait at the bar, we were encouraged by the hostess to wait outside with our elderly parents (it was -5 !!). After 20 minutes - still no table - we were able to find room to wait standing near the bar. And then, not once, not twice, not even thrice - but 5 times new people arrived saying "table for 4, we don't have a reservation", and they were seated almost immediately because they knew and hugged the owner. We inquired with the hostess, as we'd now been waiting over 45 minutes, she tried to explain that it was because the owner made an exception for them. How is that fair that the owner can bump 5 completely different parties of 4 ahead of a group that had been waiting for almost an hour?? We decided to leave, and the hostess didn't even apologize for the wait or the inconvenience. Completely horrendous customer service - don't waste your time or money here.
Edit: re pub's reply as I can't reply directly: It's distasteful that you'd turn genuine frustration and feedback into a joke while claiming you "appreciate feedback". Clearly you're just trying to save face online. Unfortunately we're still disappointed. Instead of promising to "move heaven and earth" for us, how about you just give your customers a table?! -Re: Management & Owners - isn't it the managers job to be aware of their restaurant and clients? Surely they should have noticed the party of 4 waiting almost an hour for a table, constantly being jostled at the bar. A "quick chat with a manager" seemed impossible when the hostess barely gave us any attention, and he was busy hugging all the other guests. -Re: Special Arrangements - it's unlikely these parties who were bumped ahead of us had called ahead, as they all answered "no reservation" when the hostess asked - we could hear - we were waiting right beside her, and could see our name next on the list. After the fourth time this happened, we asked the hostess out of curiosity and were told "that the manager made a special arrangement". When it happened a 5th time, we decided to leave. -While we appreciate the apology (after the longwinded explanations), it feels far too defensive on your end. I get that you don't want a frustrated person leaving a bad review online, but it's an honest review, and that's what this space is for. We experienced subpar service at your restaurant and we are leaving feedback. Please use this a tool to improve...
Read moreAs I write this I am STILL shook this happened to me in Oakville, Canada. I have been to several clubs in Miami FL where I am from, even Orlando, Tampa, you name it. Here in Toronto I have been to Rebel, Toy Box, EFS, and even this small club in Saint Catherines HOWEVER I have never been to such a messy place. I was asked for my ID twice, and after letting me in TWICE kicked out of this place. My girlfriend and I went upstairs initially where we chilled for an hour or so because the first floor was at full capacity and to enter, you have to make a line outside, which we did in order to go downstairs where we originally wanted to go based purely on the music. After waiting for our turn to go in I was asked for my ID. I am currently 26 years old... far from underage. So, according to their “policy” I show my American driver’s license from FLorida and we FINALLY go in and were getting warmed up to the music when the same security guy who let us in the first time, came up to us to tell me the owner couldn’t have me in the building because my American license could be fake and the “cops” wouldn’t believe in the veracity of my ID if i was to be confronted with them (mind you, i had not been and was not drinking anyways). I told him that was my official government issued ID however he asked me if I could go get my passport... i travelled from Niagara Falls to go to this tiny so called pub at my girlfriend’s recommendation and was not going to drive 2h+ back and forth to enter this place. I have no need for anything other than my license at any actual clubs or pubs across the gta and would never risk taking my passport in my neighboring country. I was utterly shook, this is Canada not communist Cuba or North Korea...I asked to speak to the owner so I could prove I was American and my ID wasn’t fake but I was denied the option to and told to leave the building. Honestly this is my first review on a club or whatever you wanna call it, cuz I have fun anywhere since I love dancing and I get that not everyone can offer amazing customer service BUT I couldn’t go through this experience without letting people know. Just terrible. As a tourist, and an American I am taking with me a dreading experience from this small place...
