The bench of shame. Pedestrians beware, their golden bench outside their ice cream shop is for patrons only. They should probably at this point put a gate around it and put a sign up that says "for customers only."

The fam and I went to Mio gelato to try a couple scoops and wanted to do a taste test of Mountain Homemade Ice cream and compare the two. I didn't want to be rude and go inside with my gelato scoops from another establishment, so I sat on the bench outside with my daughter while my husband and son went in to choose the ice cream. My husband overheard a man complaining indoors that we were on their bench so he sent a young woman outside to kick us off, and explained it was for patrons only. Not that I care what people think of me, but she explained it so loud that the staff next door just stared the whole time as well as the other pedestrians that were on the bench. Those pedestrians were never told to leave at all. Just my daughter and I. I did vouch the reasoning why we were even on the bench in the first place (husband inside getting ice cream) which at that point we were told we were able to stay. Its all good. We took our ice creams on our walk down to the water. I didn't want to take up anymore seating on that bench, which remained pretty empty after we walked by well into the evening.

Were tourists from out of town. I promised my fam ice cream again before we leave. Mio Gelato was great :) I'll be heading back...

Our family visited on a Wednesday evening in August. The shop is small and there was a line so it was pretty cramped in there. The service moved pretty quick though. They make their own ice cream and have demonstrations at least monthly. The demonstrations are well advertised on the wall. They have hard ice cream, soft ice cream and smoothies. We had hard ice cream but it seems like they do all three really well. The downside to this is that the menu items for anyone variety is somewhat small. My son wanted Superman but they didn't have an option for that. I'd wanted vanilla Sunday with hot fudge and whipped cream and they didn't have whipped cream. To me that seemed like a little bit of a Miss. I expect that any ice cream shop would have whipped cream. My son ended up getting chocolate, my daughter got Cookie monster I believe and I got the sea spray which was vanilla with caramel and chocolate chips. But ice cream was very good, rich and creamy. Due to the small nature of the shop there is no seating inside. There are two benches outside against the wall for people to sit and eat their ice cream. There were people standing around eating as well. Due to this shop's location downtown Kingston, there is no dedicated parking lot. You have to find either a parking lot, structure or on...

It has been a few years since I have an ice cream in public. I went in and ordered two scoops of the Raspberry ice cream. It was $8 for two scoops. This is the smallest two scoops I have ever had from an ice cream parlour. It is supposed to be Raspberry ice cream but does not taste like Raspberries at all. I am very disappointed in this experience and do not recommend going there.

Updated I appreciate the input from the owner. I don't think blaming the customer for the bad experience is professional. When a customer has a bad experience they simply do not go back. I am a life long Kingstonian. I have been to White Mountain many times over the last 30 years. My co-workers also agreed it was a small size, (We have a large office) most definitely not two scoops. I did question if it was considered two scoops at the point of sale... but was not offered anything and didn't want to cause a fuss. This is not up to the standards I remembered in the past. I did not try the ice cream until I was back in the office. I wish you all the luck in the future with your...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ White Mountain Homemade Ice Cream is a true gem! The ice cream is incredibly creamy and flavorful, with a variety of unique and classic flavors to choose from. You can tell it’s made with care and high-quality ingredients. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, adding to the cozy, small-town vibe of the place. I highly recommend trying their seasonal flavors—they’re always a delightful surprise! The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Whether you're stopping by with family, friends, or just treating yourself, this spot never disappoints. If you're in the area, don’t miss out on this local treasure!

I also tried this ice cream shop. I enjoyed a lot their ice cream but their customer service is disappointing for me. They served the ice cream to me even though I didn’t order any. I just asked what it tastes like because I can’t imagine the taste by the name, and then I wanted to order it after I made a decision. Even I didn’t ask tasting. Just ask what kind of ingredient (flavour) is in that. I understood it was a busy day for them. The ice cream was nice. That’s why I felt more disappointed.
