Anna was our server and she was very nice. Never offered to refill our drinks, though. Chicken finger dinner was upgraded to poutine and Caesar salad. Salad was good but side of poutine contained a very small bowl of fries with gravy and curd for an additional cost of $2.88. Hardly worth the extra $ and wasn’t a regular “side” portion. Greek chicken dinner was as ordered with salad served on plate with hot food. The salad contained all of 2 olives a couple pieces of unripe tomatoes, a very large amount of lettuce, no cucumbers, a couple of very thin slivers of red onions and so little dressing that it was not noticeable at all. The potatoes weren’t Greek style at all, they were the roasted ones as served with the roast sirloin dish. There was not a dinner roll offered with this Greek dinner. Suggest serving the salad separately and as an appetizer so that this guest doesn’t have to sit watching everyone else eat theirs. Roast sirloin dinners were as ordered. One of these dinners ordered house salad and the two pieces of tomato were pink and unripe. Two of these dinners ordered mushroom soup and it was a chicken gravy type brownish base with very few mushrooms. Coconut pie was as expected, lovely! The strawberry pie at $7.99 (without the extra $ costing whip topping) was basically slopped onto the plate, all broken crusted & spread all over the desert plate. There were about 6 every large strawberries that were very yummy for this time of year, winter! The atmosphere was okay, considering with an almost empty (no wait line to get in) we were sat right by the kitchen where everyone walks by umteen times to use the facilities downstairs & servers constantly walking by. It wasn’t very nice when our server loudly mentioned that she’d have to check with the kitchen to see if one of the sirloin dinners that we’d ordered to take home to a family member who couldn’t come out with us, could be included in the “2 dinners for the price of $44.99 including one slice of coconut cream pie for 2”. We found out that the special only applies to the “dine in” yet we still paid the full price on the dine in menu to take one full dinner home. Since we didn’t read the fine print about the pie slice only being a coconut cream piece, we’d asked for the strawberry which Anna also had to announce that she’d check with the kitchen “but it’s supposed to be coconut” so if we wanted the strawberry instead we could pay the upgraded fee of whatever $$. Just wound up taking the one coconut and buying the strawberry which was a total mess on a plate for $7.99. So, this restaurant used to be a staple for us almost every time we were in Oshawa however, since the ownership has changed & so has the quality of the business, we won’t be going back. Nickel and dimming seems to be the way of this restaurant now which isn’t becoming of such an aspired...
Read moreI am writing on behalf of my family who ordered $150.00 worth of dinner this evening for a birthday.
My family and I are so disappointed in the food quality from Teddys. It’s been years since we’ve ordered and we recently thought it would be great to try their food again for a birthday celebration. We ordered dinner for 6 people.
First and foremost, the French fries were warm and soggy. None of us ate them. My mother ordered the sirloin and it was warm and tough. My step dad also tried a bite and confirmed it was chewy and had hard fat in the middle (photo shown before I gave it to my Labrador for dinner). We typically eat higher qualities of meat from local farms and this meal reminded us why we don’t usually eat out.
The chicken salad club sandwich was horrible. This was my meal. The chicken salad was extremely salty. Also, the sandwich was wrapped up in tinfoil paper and when I opened it the bread was wet and soggy with the chicken salad slopped all over the inside.
Lastly, my son had the children’s spaghetti and red meat sauce. My grandmother, mother, step father, husband and brother all couldn’t believe the portion of the sauce that was slopped on top of the warm noodles. Two tablespoons at best. I ended up opening a can of red sauce at my moms and making more so my young child could enjoy a proper pasta dish.
Teddys quality has gone downhill significantly over the years. As a young woman who grew up in Oshawa, going to Teddys decades ago was such a treat. I have fond memories of having family meals at the restaurant and at home as their food was fresh, hot and tasty.
This experience has been terrible and very saddening as we were looking forward to a nice family birthday meal. My family and I feel as if our time and money has been wasted as food was thrown out and food had to be remade or cooked in order to enjoy it. We will never eat at Teddys again. We wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to family and friends or anyone in the community.
Very low quality...
Read moreWe’ve been to Teddy’s Restaurant & Deli a few times, and we were so excited to go back and try their new menu items! Our experience was awesome and our waitress, Tracy, was the sweetest—so friendly and genuinely attentive. She made us feel like we were right at home. That kind of service just makes you want to keep coming back (that's why we're back~)!
Teddy’s has been a local staple for over a couple decades, and it’s easy to see why. The portions are huge, the prices are great, and the vibe is so cozy, like you’re eating in a family kitchen. Every time we come here, a lineup is a normal sight.
Here’s what we got into this time around:
New Menu Items:
Avocado Turkey Club Melt: This was a total hit! Creamy avocado, juicy turkey, and perfectly toasted bread—it was fresh, filling, and delicious.
Teddy’s Cobb Salad: Super satisfying! Packed with fresh ingredients and plenty of protein, this salad is great if you’re in the mood for something a bit lighter but still filling.
Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake (Limited Time): Wow, this dessert was everything we hoped for! Creamy cheesecake with a blueberry topping and the perfect crumble. It’s a must-try if you’re a cheesecake fan—grab it while it’s on the menu!
And of course, we couldn’t leave without ordering some classics:
Coconut Dreams Shake: This shake tastes like a tropical vacation in a glass! So creamy and full of coconut flavor. Perfect treat to go with the meal!
Classic Hot Sandwich (Mom’s all-time fave): Total comfort food. The tender meat, soft bread, and rich gravy are just right. Mom gets it every time and never regrets it!
Strawberry Pie (my favorite): I can’t leave Teddy’s without a slice of this. The crust is perfectly flaky, and the strawberries are so fresh. It’s the best way to end a meal here.
So, whether you’re trying their new items or sticking with the classics, Teddy’s is always a win. If you’re in Oshawa, you’ve gotta stop by! You’ll leave happy, full, and probably already planning...
