Cabano's is on St. Nicholas street near Yonge and St Mary's.

The restaurant is not that hard to find but it is in an inside street. As soon as you enter the restaurant there are kiosks to order from. The seating is consisted of long tables with stools.

I went on a Sunday around 5pm, there were maybe 2 couples and a family eating dinner there at that time, and there was still seating available which is good.

Ordering: There are a set of kiosks at the front of the restaurant.

Cost: I paid $31 including tax for my meal. I got the Cabano Burger ($15), Chili Cheese Fries ($10), Carolina Hot Sauce ($2), and the Habanero Honey Sauce ($1.50)

Wait Time: About 15 minutes to get my food.

The burger was not good. The flavor profile was not there at all for a smash burger. I was really disappointed by it. The patties were burnt in the middle and burger was really greasy. The chili cheese fries are nothing to write home about either. The chili itself is almost flavorless and the fries were really soggy and not crispy at all. I also ordered two sauces to try the Carolina Hot Sauce, and the Habanero Honey Sauce. The Carolina Hot Sauce was not spicy at all. The Habanero Honey Sauce was alright but again no hint of spice at all in the sauce it was mostly just sweet. The sauces took a while to get as well as the waitress was ignoring me. I had placed the order separately on the kiosk and almost another 15 minutes went by (no one other than the 2 couples, the family, and myself was in the restaurant) so I was confused why it took so long to get my sauces..

Overall: the seating area is alright, the food not so much. Really disappointed with my experience at Cabano's. Really surprised with the high score the...

Edit: They now have Diet Dad's Root Beer. They're 5 stars in my books.

Original Review:

Oh, man. I wanted to give this place a 5, but one detail just glaringly stood out to me.

First the good stuff. I got a Cabano's Burger Combo with Chili Cheese Fries. The food is delicious. I really appreciate that their fried food is actually crispy. The fries stood their own to the melted cheese and chili. The fried jalapenos on the burger were crispy little morsels that gave way to a sweet and spicy flavor. They did not get too soggy in the burger and provided a nice crunch.

The burgers are grilled on a specialty grill that smashes the burgers. It was very interesting to see, and I imagine this leads to a high level of consistency. The burgers have a great crust, and are not too thin like some smash burgers I've had. Very enjoyable.

The remaining item in the combo was the single disappointment of my meal: the drink. I ordered a drink because price wise it just made sense to get a combo, but note that they have no zero-sugar pop. I find this decision for a burger shop extremely odd. They have a great selection of glass bottled pop, including Coke and a number of Dad's brand soda. But even though these brands have no sugar options, Cabano's doesn't carry them for some reason. If you don't want to add ~30g of sugar to your meal, you're stuck with getting a water. For those conscious of their sugar intake, this is really going to lower the value you get here.

So to summarize, if you don't mind sugary pop, this place is stellar and will satisfy your burger and fries craving. If you are trying to avoid sugary pop but still crave some pop with your meal, you may be...

This place seems like a real hidden gem, because it is tucked away on a mostly residential side street, with lots of condos and apartment buildings. The decor is very simple, but elegant at the same time; there are no pictures, just brick walls; and Edison bulbs hanging from the ceiling.

Like the decor, the menu is very simple - they have a handful of items: burgers, sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries, and chili cheese fries (more on those later). While the menu isn't very extensive, what they do offer is ridiculously delicious!

I had the single cheese burger and didn't have to fuss with asking for topping, because it was already topped with the usual suspects of toppings: lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. It was one of the best burgers I've had in a while; trust me, that's saying a lot!

On the side I got an order of chili cheese fries which were piled quite generously and smothered with cheddar cheese and chili - still thinking about how awesome they were!

The food containers are really big, I don't think a box this big is necessary and I think it would be more environmentally friendly if they had plates for people who choose to dine in (such as I did). One other thing I would like to see done differently at this restaurant, from an environmental perspective is having more than one garbage bin. I only saw one bin for people to throw away their food scraps, cardboard boxes, and glass bottles. It would be nice if there was also a blue bin stationed, where we could dispose of our glass bottles (they serve all of their pop in glass bottles).

Overall, I had a fantastic lunch and I will definitely be back again. Keep up...

While on a coffee bean mission at Eataly in the Manulife Center, my family and I made an impromptu stop at Cabanos. And oh boy, was it a winner! The star of the show? The Cabano Burger. This burger is not just a meal; it's a craving in the making. So good that I'm already planning my next visit to get another bite of that addictive deliciousness. Sides are no side show here. The spicy cheese fries were a highlight for me - just the right cheesy touch with a heap of crispy fried jalapenos for that perfect kick. And yes, I did a bit of 'quality control' on my son's regular fries and my wife's chili cheese fries. Research, you know? Seating's a bit like a game of musical chairs; we got lucky with a spot under the window, but I can imagine it's a hot commodity during peak times. If you're in the mood for a chat while ordering, bring cash. If you're more of a digital wizard, the kiosk screens have got you covered for card payments. Long story short, if you're near Yonge and Bloor and in the mood for a burger that'll ruin you for other burgers, Cabanos is your place. Trust me, go for the Cabano Burger, stay for the amazing sides, and enjoy the cozy spot if you can snag one!
