While I haven’t tried the food or drink at Café le Neuf and therefore won’t comment on the products, I am sharing my experience with the event rental process and business integrity of the space operated by Mike-Paul Neufville.
We rented the venue for our wedding and were assured that the space was air-conditioned (a key factor in our decision). When we arrived, the space had only three people in it (family) and no direct sun exposure, yet the temperature already read 28°C. The AC did not appear to be turned on prior to our arrival. It was only after we raised the issue that it was activated (or at least adjusted down) but by then, the room continued to heat up and reached 40°C by the end of the ceremony. Guests flooded outside immediately after we said “I do” just to escape the heat, even though it was 35°C outdoors, which still felt like a relief.
We tried to resolve the issue directly with Mike. The response was disappointing: claiming the AC had been on all along, that the thermostat read 27°C, and that guests “seemed happy” when they arrived to check. (He arrived when we were all outside) Multiple guests confirmed seeing the thermostat read 40°C, and the only relief was stepping outside. The response also cited the solarium-style design and western exposure as reasons for the heat, a factor that should have been proactively managed, not used to dismiss our concerns.
The space may be visually appealing, but the lack of accountability left a lasting negative impression. If you're considering booking Café le Neuf for an event, I strongly recommend getting all assurances in writing and being prepared to advocate for yourself if...
Read moreCafé Le Neuf is one of my favourite spots in the city. It’s tucked right between the beautiful Light Showers sculpture and the Sherbourne Common waterfront, which makes it the perfect place to grab a coffee before a walk along the promenade—or a quick pick-me-up before work or class at George Brown or T3 Bayside.
The vibe inside is stunning—huge ceilings, marble counters, and just this calm, elegant atmosphere that somehow still feels warm and inviting. It honestly feels like sitting in a little museum of beauty. And somehow, you and your latte just… belong.
The Dulce de Leche Latte and Almond Croissant are my go-to, but everything I’ve tried has been amazing. If the weather’s nice, the patio is a great place to people-watch, especially with the stylish crowd that stops by from Mike-Paul’s Atelier next door. So inspiring.
Whether you’re new to the area or just haven’t stopped in yet—go. It’s...
Read moreWe booked this venue for our event and were extremely disappointed with how irresponsible and unhelpful the management was. Despite paying a cleaning fee and even having our own cleaner to tidy up after the event, we were still told to throw out all the garbage ourselves. At the end, the staff came around checking every single tiny detail instead of showing any flexibility or professionalism.
What made it worse is that during the event, when we actually needed assistance, they were nowhere to be found and completely unhelpful — but suddenly at the end, they showed up only to scrutinize everything. For a place that charges extra fees, the lack of service and support is unacceptable.
I would not recommend this venue for anyone who wants a stress-free and well-managed event. There are far better spaces where your time, money, and celebration will actually...
