This was my place to go when it came to sandwiches. Sadly, this place has really declined in terms of efficiency from their staff, but what is worst, the food. On Friday, I asked for a chicken club and a hot chocolate. It took them forever to get this done. The hot chocolate was very average and the sandwich was very dry, the reason for this was that didn't use enough dressing, the green goddess was not enough and the garlic mayo tasted funny, I honestly think that they got me Ranch instead of garlic mayo. I actually had to ask for more, but they gave me Ranch again. Because this place was so good before covid, I thought that I could give them another chance. Today, I went with my family, and apparently, the main chef was in place this time, so things were a little quicker. But to my surprise, when I went to the bathroom, I learned that it was closed. (By this time, we already paid) When I asked the front house why we don't have a bathroom, the answer was that someone left the key inside the washroom. It's crazy that they didn't have an extra key, and in the case that, they didn't. They shouldn't be having people to sit and dine in. At least they could warn them before taking their order, or just simply doing takeout. This clearly violates sanitary measures. Apparently, the whole staff couldn't go to the bathroom until God knows. Really, this was a very cool place to go, but definitely...
Read moreWhen I passed the store and glanced at it, the Asian middle-aged male employee glared at me then went away quickly. He was rude to look at a potential customer that way.
They did not ask us if we wanted the sour cream on top of the chilli and if we wanted cheese on top of the soup (they just put the sour cream and the cheese on top of them for us). We did not expect that; they should ask customers if customers want those toppings because some people might have allergy to dairy products.
Moreover, the menu board was misleading. It showed 'Draft Beer' but the cashier said they only had cans. Also, the board indicated wine by the glass and the cashier said they only sold wine by the bottle. If the menu board was correct and clear, then we would not have asked which was a waste of everyone's time.
In addition, they did not have soap and toilet paper in the washroom while there were many employees on the floor and someone could have checked the washroom. Furthermore, the washroom key only worked for one of the washrooms which caused the customers inconvenient (there was a long queue).
P.S. That Asian male employee came to us when we were eating and asked us 'Have we got everything' which disturbed our conversation and he did not disturb...
Read moreAmazing Pork Sandwich and Exceptional Service!!!
I recently visited Railtown Cafe on Granville st. and had an absolutely fantastic experience. I ordered the pork sandwich, and wow—it was beyond delicious! The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, with a great balance of flavors, and the bread had just the right amount of crunch. The sandwich was generously portioned, filling, and satisfying—definitely worth every penny.
But what made my visit even more memorable was the excellent service. Hanzel was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every staff worked with great energy and also professionally! It’s always nice when staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great time, and that’s exactly what happened here.
I highly recommend Railtown Cafe not only for their amazing food but also for the top-notch service. I’ll...
