I went there with my friends on Sunday night to play boardgame. We made a reservation at 4pm and told we have to leave by 5:30pm. We barely get through one game especially after we just ordered food and drinks. Like, excuse me? I came here to play board games and yeah we know we have to order to play. But I am not coming here to eat. I am here to play some game. We literally just finished eating and was told we have to go. I would have been able to stay at a coffee shop longer with that much food and drink order. Also I was pushed to order food when I am not yet ready. After order, the bill is 18% gratitude! Like, we are only a group of 5. Why should there be 18% tip for just an order of pizza and water. Also this 18% was not informed upon us entering the restaurant nor sit down or the menu. Finally, this place does not even have a functioning washroom. My friend was told we have to find washroom somewhere else by ourselves. The shop owner next door says to my friend when she go borrow their washroom that the washroom breaks all the time! Like, what? You push us to order food and drinks and no washroom!!!! I will never go back again! One of the worst! Highly don’t recommend! If you want to go there for boardgame! Don’t! A boardgame cafe with 2 hour limit plus you have to order food and drinks and eat without washroom. No thank you….
Hi there just to respond to your comments, I always leave constructive comments based on my own experiences. Here some facts I want state, our waiter told us we need start packing up around 5:30pm. Our group did not stayed after 6pm. I checked my phone we left at 6:01pm, not sure which group are you referring to. Thank you for offering to give the refund. I appreciate it but it’s ok I don’t think I personally will go back. I can apologize for misunderstanding your establishment but I just want to point out there are so many reviews and comments about this place being a boardgame cafe. However there is not a single reply from the owner and correct them that the place is not? In fact, the owner posted “Thank you”. To me, this sounds like you agree that this is a boardgame cafe. Anyways, I appreciate the clarification and apologize the misunderstanding. I looked through all your reviews and none of them seem to be negative. Looks like you are very good at keeping a good review on Google, not sure how you did that but sorry I am just sharing my honest experience and please don’t attack people who give bad comments. It’s not nice. I always leave constructive comments and willing to apologize about my...
Read moreA hidden gem for people who like table top games and fresh, tasty, well made Italian food.
Ludica combines two things I love: games and pizza. In a nutshell, this is a casual restaurant that features wood fired pizzas and other Italian delicacies that can be enjoyed while your party plays one of the hundreds of table (board) games from Ludica's library of games.
First, the food. Pizza is top notch. Thin rustic style crispy crust from the wood oven that is piled high with fresh toppings. They have a nice variety of pizzas with many vegetarian options, classic styles, and their own game inspired creations. The menu also included a variety of salads, appys, and pasta. Local craft beers and Italian sodas are among the choices of beverage. Prices are also very reasonable. On food alone, I would rate Ludica 4 stars.
Now, for the games. Ludica has a lot of games. I consider myself a bit of a game aficionado, having well over 100 games of my own and having played at least another hundred in my circle of gaming friends. Most games that I would want to play over dinner are in the Ludica library. Mainstream classics like Jenga and Connect Four? Check. Well known party games like Scattegories and Taboo? Check. Muchkin? Check. Cards against Humanity? Check. Where the collection really shines though is for people like myself that prefer family strategy, euro, or modern board games. Games like Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Dominion. Ludica has the games that gamers will know how to play, but I also noticed some out of print and less well known gems like Union Pacific and Ubongo. If you are reading this list of games and don't recognize anything past Taboo, that's OK. Ludica has game stewards and stewardesses to suggest games for you and give you a quick tutorial on how to play. The added fun factor of being able to enjoy a game with friends and family instead of being distracted by TVs and smart devices is excellent and gives Ludica an extra star in my book.
I also love the decor and little gamer touches. Maps of Power Grid and Diplomacy framed as wall art (I want this in my game room), Carcassonne beer coasters, and Scattegories folders for bill folios.
I wish the owners would figure out a way to squeeze in a few more tables.

Read moreWe visited the restaurant last Friday night. My boyfriend arrived first and waited for about 20 minutes at the only occupied table. When I joined him after work, there were still plenty of empty tables available. We placed our order (we ordered one pizza (salty and dry) and the meatball pasta( the meatballs were so terrible, very dry and with bad animal smell). And we informed the staff that our friends would be arriving late. Despite this, we were rushed to order a minimum of $15 each, so our friends ended up ordering desserts, salad, and cocktails, even though they had already eaten. We simply wanted to try out some new board games. After our friends received their cocktails and desserts, one of the waitresses abruptly informed us that we needed to leave in 20 minutes, despite the fact that there were still many empty tables. It felt like they were trying to rush us out. We didn't have time to finish our food (even just started like one or two bites) or play a full game of the board game we opened(just unboxed the game...) The service was unfriendly and the food was terrible. It's frustrating that the waitress didn't inform us earlier about the time limit, as our friends ended up wasting almost $40 on food that couldn't be finished. On top of that, they didn't even provide takeaway boxes for the unfinished food we had. Overall, the service left a sour taste in our mouths, especially at the start of the weekend. If you're looking for a place to play board games, I recommend RAINCITY inside the international village instead. They have a wide selection of games and much friendlier staff who are happy to help with...
