Thida's Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Thidas used to be my favorite spot for thai cuisine in the city for years until last night. My GF and I were wondering what to have for dinner for my 40th birthday and she had never tried Thidas before so I was VERY excited to introduce her to it.

We placed our order at 6:59 PM and they did provide an expectation that the food wouldn't be ready until 8:30 PM which we were fine with because it was Mother's Day.

I should note that we decided to contact the restaurant directly so we could ensure that they kept as much of our money as possible instead of using DoorDash/Skip the Dishes etc.

We had nothing to do so we decided to head down to Thidas at 8:00, just in case our food was ready. When we arrived, there were about 7 delivery drivers for DoorDash/Skip the Dishes waiting as well which we weren't upset about at first.

There was barely ANY communication about how long our order was going to be and there was no one at the front to speak to, outside of 5 minutes over the 45 minutes we were in there.

THE REASON I WON'T BE GOING BACK - At about 8:45 PM (Almost 2 hours after we placed our orders), I started looking at the filled DoorDash/Skip the Dishes orders on the counter and noticed the times they were placed which were considerably after the time we placed our order (7:23 PM, 8:01 PM etc.).

You CANNOT treat customers who choose to order directly from you like this and it's absolutely ridiculous that, if we had chosen to order through one of the food apps, we would get our food sooner.

We ended up walking out at that point (8:50 pm). I'm sad to say you've lost a customer of 10 years and we'll need to find somewhere else who respects the customers trying to...

Place has great potential but needs an investment in everything from design to server training and food. Food: Unfortunately I couldn't tell it is authentic our delicious. But it is okay. Mid range quality that you can find in any Asian section of fast food courts in any mall. Standard menu with everything from soups & salads to rice and noodles. Meals come in mid size portions. Service: server was friendly , knowledgeable , but unprofessional. He took our order on time. Waiting time for meals were acceptable , but he brought all dishes ( have to mention everything came hot) at the same time (soup / rice and noodles ). So by the time we were done with a soup our rice and noodles were half cold. Cleanliness: Place is clean . Tables are clean and not sticky, booster chairs are clean but very old and uncomfortable . Plates , cutlery , glasses all clean. Washrooms: are clean and no bad smell , BUT very old and sketchy with broken locks at women side. Design: None . Looks like it was built back in 1980 and nothing was upgrade since then . None even one décor or some signs of Thailand or Thai culture. Unfortunately Thida's Thai restaurant didn't give me any reason to want to visit them again. Average food , average service, no design / unique...

I have been a customer for Thida's Thai for more than a year now and the old lady who takes orders at the counter is quite friendly, in fact she knows what I usually order and places it without even me having to ask for it. But, today I had the worst experience that a customer could have. I entered the restaurant told the waiter that I would be dining in. He told me to have a seat where ever I liked. I had been waiting approximately for 10 minutes and it started worrying me as there was no one coming to take my order. I got up and asked the waiter who was busy with his cell phone while on work that why isn't he taking my order, it's almost been 10 minutes. Instead of apologizing he yelled at me saying that, you just came in and its not been 10 minutes. I asked him politely to talk with manners and give me the menu and again he yelled at me saying pick it up from the counter and again after me having to tell him to talk with respect to you customer, he started cursing and at one point he came at me as if he was going to fight. After all that embarrassment another waiter from inside came and told me to leave in a harsh tone. I am really disappointed with this restaurants staff and want an apology for the way...
