Visited in November 2024. Hong Kong.
We discovered this sushi bar via Google reviews and enticing photos, unaware that it was nestled within a bustling food court. The stylish space features a large chef's counter and a smaller counter opposite, showcasing an extensive sake list.
The Food:
While we initially intended to sample a broader selection from the à la carte menu, our server mistakenly informed us that they only offered omakase (pre-set menus). As a result, we ate at a different restaurant, but later we had the opportunity to try their à la carte menu. Consequently, we limited our order to two types of sushi, although this proved sufficient to assess both the chef's skill and the quality of the fish. The tuna sushi was outstanding; the tuna, while not excessively large, was exquisitely tender and rich, showcasing superior quality. The sea urchin was equally impressive, possessing a delicate sweetness and a lovely creamy finish. The rice was perfectly cooked—neither dry nor overly soft—and melted in the mouth, acting as a subtle support rather than dominating the delicate flavors of the fish and uni.
Service:
The service, however, was significantly less impressive. It was initially unclear how to attract the attention of staff. Once we finally managed to flag down a server, we were misinformed regarding the availability of an à la carte menu, forcing us to seek alternative dining options. Ironically, upon returning later for a sake tasting, we discovered they were indeed serving à la carte, indicating inconsistency and a disappointing lack of attentiveness on the server's part. Generally, engaging with staff felt more challenging than necessary.
Conclusion:
The quality of the food is undeniable; this restaurant clearly prioritizes fresh, high-quality ingredients. However, the service fell disappointingly short, leaving us feeling unwelcome and under-served. Given the abundance of excellent Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong, we would likely opt for an alternative on our next visit. Nevertheless, if you find yourself at this food court with a craving for fresh, delicious sushi, this establishment will certainly...
Read moreFor our 12th dating anniversary, I wanted a spot close to my workplace in Central Market—something intimate for hubby and me, with easy access to the food court and cocktail bars upstairs in case he fancied a post-dinner wine or cocktail. This cozy Japanese gem on the same floor fit the bill perfectly. My husband lit up the moment he spotted the 10-piece Omakase sushi set for just HKD 398—a steal! I’m no expert on fish varieties, but watching him savor each piece was pure joy, especially the finale: that creamy, indulgent sea urchin. The set came with a stylish handroll and delightfully crunchy seaweed that added the perfect textural pop. I opted for the Hamachi Caramelized Onion Rice Bowl, and oh, what a treat! The fresh sashimi paired beautifully with the sweet onions, while the crunchy sesame seeds scattered through the rice brought everything together in a symphony of flavors. We also shared the standout Chazuke soup—creamy, comforting, and brimming with tender fish slices. It was a refreshing twist, worlds away from the standard miso soups at other local spots. This little hidden gem turned our milestone into a night of delightful surprises. Thank you for making our anniversary unforgettable— we’ll...
Read moreNot sure on what basis those high ratings were done, but already - lunch time NO sushi, only hefty priced rice bowls. Second - after many hundreds of Sushi's I have eaten on all corners of the world - I can full heartedly say - this place is not even worth a mention - the rice is tasteless and hard, the fish (salmon for example) totally tasteless, the overall presentation pretty mediocre - I don't blame the restaurant for its high rating - not their fault, but I question the reviews by all measures. Apart from not worth mentioning quality of the food - it is also pretty overpriced as well. Really hard to see how somebody can give high rating. I would put this place on a 2 starts at best. The one star less is only to compensate for the exaggerated overall rating this place...
