If you're a fan of Italian food, Motorino is definitely a place you should check out. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming environment, perfect for a casual dinner with friends or family. As a food critic, I was particularly impressed by the quality of their dishes.
The prosciutto di Parma pizza was a highlight for me. The combination of the salty prosciutto and the peppery arugula on top was simply delicious. The crust was crispy and flavorful, and the sauce had the perfect balance of tomato and herbs. This pizza is definitely a must-try for meat lovers.
The porchetta pizza was good, but not as impressive as the prosciutto di Parma pizza. The pork was tender and flavorful, but I found the overall taste to be a bit bland. However, if you're a fan of porchetta, it's still worth ordering.
The meatball was another winner. The stuffing was juicy and flavorful, and the sauce had a nice tangy kick to it. It's a simple dish, but executed perfectly.
To wrap up the meal, I tried the tiramisu, which was also very good. The creamy mascarpone and espresso-soaked ladyfingers were a perfect ending to a satisfying meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend Motorino for anyone looking for delicious Italian food in a welcoming atmosphere. The prosciutto di Parma pizza and meatball were definite highlights, and I can't wait to return and try more...
Read moreHad Christmas lunch at Black Sheep's Motorino, a Neapolitan pizza specialist along Shelley Street in Soho, enjoying our pizza as we have at this restaurant in the past. Opening hours are 12pm to 12am daily.
Dining area is urban tidy, packed with seating and resembles a small NYC pizzeria or Italian restaurant. Menu features a small selection of starters, sides and Neapolitan style pizza's which are made from ingredients flown in from the Naples region of Italy and baked in their wood-burning Ferrara open-fire brick oven built into the back of the shop.
Properly baked at a high temperature for just a handful of minutes, the pizza crust has a fair char and is soft in the middle. You can eat with knife and fork or go ahead fold the slices and eat them NYC style. It is part of the fun of eating here.
During our visit we enjoyed the Soppressata piccante pizza topped with extra arugula. Pizza tasted quite good, particularly with a bit of chili oil to give it just a bit more kick.
We find one pizza is enough for two people eating at Motorino. They are pre-sliced but best to let the pizza cool just a bit so the cheese and other ingredients stay on the crust.
Overall, happy as usual after eating at Motorino. This is a safe choice for predictably good pizza in Hong Kong, not something we can honestly say about most pizza joints...
Read moreI recently ordered a Sorpresa Piccante pizza from Motorino SoHo through Foodpanda, with a clear request for no garlic. To ensure this was respected, I called the restaurant directly. From the beginning, the manager Rakesh was shockingly rude. When I mentioned my request, he hung up on me, saying that if I had written it in the app, it would be followed. A minute later, he called back claiming they had no record of my order—which triggered a frustrating 40-minute ordeal of back-and-forth calls between Motorino and Foodpanda. Throughout this time, Foodpanda repeatedly confirmed that my order had been placed and accepted by Motorino SoHo. Despite this, the manager continued to insist that no order existed. When my pizza finally arrived, I sent photos of the order to the manager to confirm its delivery—but after that, he stopped responding entirely. This experience was not just poor—it was deeply unprofessional and dismissive. I went out of my way to ensure my dietary request was respected, only to be met with rudeness, confusion, and a complete lack of accountability. I expected better from a restaurant with Motorino’s reputation. I hope this feedback encourages serious improvements in customer service, communication, and respect for guests who simply want their orders...
