This café is a true hidden gem in the midst of Hong Kong’s hustle and bustle. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere wraps you in warmth and style—but what truly stands out is the service, with that personal touch that makes you feel right at home. Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the tea. It’s simply delicious. A subtle blend of green tea with a delicate hint of strawberry that makes it unique, special, unforgettable. It’s one of those drinks you want to sip slowly, savoring every note. And when it comes to treats, the chocolate cake is rich, intense, and perfectly balanced. The mixed berries and peach tart is another wonder—fresh, light, and with just the right amount of sweetness to complement any drink beautifully. A place to return to, without a doubt. If you’re in Hong Kong and you enjoy great tea, kind service, and an unforgettable sweet bite, this is your spot.

food: salmon soup, fish steak, coffee. the soup was perfect - salmony, creamy, with the fulfilling pops of salmon roe. the tomatoes of the main were SUPER SWEET i was almost happy to death. liked the bitterness of the endive too. the fish steak was tasty but too chewy for my taste. my friend said his crab meat salad and apples pork chop were perfect. service: attentive as expected. but somehow i felt like our servant was... in a rush (without offending us). environ: perfect as expected there are two areas: cake shop with some seats serving bakes, pastries, quick bites, cakes etc, and the proper café dining area. price: $298 for a 2-course lunch. totally reasonable for this place. verdict: satisfied. will go there again even just for the tomatoes!!!!!! p.s. you’ve got to try the signature rose & strawberry jam and the dulce de leche pastry of the cake shop!

A true Hong Kong Institution! The team at Café Causette in the Mandarin Oriental always treats us like Royalty. Both Assistant Directors of F&B, Matthias and Christoph, made sure that we were really well looked after. Our favourite item has always been and still is the Hainanese Chicken Rice. A special mention also for the excellent selection of teas and the exquisite cakes and pastries. Also, the Mandarin Cake Shop items such as the rose petal jam are HK classics, and the hazelnut chocolate spread is so delicious. Highly recommend visiting the Café to enjoy first class service and some well-deserved indulgence.

Cafe Causette used to be my favorite casual dining place. they had huge loaves of bread, delicious food, specifically the Hainan chicken rice, and fantastic service. however, they have changed for the worst. i came back after a few months of traveling just to find out that the bread loaves has shrunk 50% in size, there are no more chocolates and cookies to go with the coffee, the pesto sauce to go with the bread has been replaced with cheap olive oil, the Hainan chicken rice has become salty that i couldn’t even finish it, the waiters didn’t offer a glass of water, the scones shrunk 50% in size and weren’t cooked well, and waiters were walking around looking at their phones. sad to say that the service is overall inattentive and not up to par for the kind of service i would expect from the Mandarin Oriental. i’m super disappointed in the lack of training from the staff. it took the waiters 10 minutes to bring me the bill after asking 5 times. not to mention, the booth chairs were full of crumbs when i was seated and i was left to remove them by myself. the food and service is not of good value to your money i would not recommend coming until they improve...
