Typically service and staff are nice and polite, but not today. I came in through the line for queuing, there was just one person ahead of me who seemed to have just finished ordering and was waiting for the order. I moved to the front of the line ( with no one behind me and no one ahead of me at this moment) and nodded the staff (a woman with glasses) and she nodded back and I waited for a bit before she came to the counter to ask for my order. At this point, there was a white woman who just came in to the end of the queuing line (while I was still at the front of the line and with no one in between us) and at this point, the staff asked me if I had queued. She made me to explain that I also came from the end of the line and moved to the front. So I had to ask her why did she just assume that I jumped the queue? (Typically for other times I was here, the staff would ask who is next, but not “if you had queued”?!) why didn’t she ask me when she came to ask for my order and only asked when she noticed the white woman behind me came to queue? I asked if she only asked me if I had jumped the queue coz there was a white woman behind me waiting and she naturally had denied this. The cake shop manager also said that their staff didn’t mean to be racist. But what happened is what happened and I don’t know your staff to know if they are racists are not (and this is not something the shop manager can guarantee for). Please train your staff well before they come out to serve customers and please be mindful of the way they speak. Not...

Definitely in a class all on its own in Central. Their patisseries are a must try for breakfast or tea. The cinnamon roll is my favorite and they run out very quickly each morning, so come by early. One can't go wrong either with their delectable danishes: cherry, blueberry, strawberry and pear - to name a few. Their healthy fruit juice blends named Refresh, Recover, Detox, and Recharge definitely get your day started on the right foot or pick you up mid-afternoon - and I've tried them all. For those who need a quick bite for brunch their ham, egg, and cheese croissant hit the spot. Heavier and yet healthy favorites include: grilled pork neck and tomato, cucumber and lemongrass (Thai) salad or miso cod salad with Japanese eggplant. And that's only a fraction of heir offerings. Service is excellent. As you can tell, I've visited the shop a few times and have been known to take away bags full for family and friends ... and I expect to come back...

Nice option for a quick weekday lunch

In addition to all the amazing cakes, this place also has some nice options for a quick lunch (whether for sit-in or for takeaway).

They got Empanadas, Quiches, Meat Pies, Sandwiches, Salads, etc.😋

I used to go for their salads quite often because they are quite filling (the Cod fish salad is pretty awesome btw!).👍🏻 But this time, I decided to try some of the other offerings and settled on the SHRIMP COCKTAIL SANDWICH.

At $88, I’d say it was decent value for money and quite tasty!👍🏻

Shrimp was quite fresh (not smelly at all). The avocado and cocktail dressing added this amazing creaminess that I always love:😍 I guess Mango provided the surprise element to this sandwich - a slightly tangy and sweet taste. The combination of all these elements was totally worth it. I might certainly head up there again next week to try the beef sandwich...

The environment is so cozy and comfortable. The 1963 cheese cake is so rich and creamy, it is really cheesy without getting too sweet, the texture is dense but remaining soft, so good. The scone is the best in town. It is crispy outside and fluffy inside, with the signature rosé strawberry jam and the clotted cream, just a taste of heaven, the rosé strawberry jam is so nice with mixed decent rose flavor and sweet flavors of strawberry, and the clotted cream js dense and creamy, simply good! The earl grey is perfect tea for cakes, it comes in a bottle and it is so smooth and light. The flat white is foamy, and the coffee is gentle, with a bite of almond cookies, I m so blessed! We had a good time here.

Update: Finally made it down here early enough to try the cinnamon roll, which was indeed great. One of very few proper American cinnamon rolls in HK. We really enjoyed the carrot cake, which was moist and full of toasted walnuts. No tangible carrot pieces or raisins. The cream horn was maybe a little one-note, but the cream was smooth and rich with a nice strong vanilla flavor. Original review (abridged): Delicious. The blueberry custard doughnut had fresh whole blueberries in the filling. The apple turnover had a crispy sugar layer on top and flavorful stewed apples and raisins inside. The cashier said the cinnamon rolls are usually ready at 8 am and sold out by 10 am.

I am MO fan. I like the special deli style menu offered exclusively in MO Cake Shop. I like its fairness with "first come first serve" policy. However, I am surprised why it allows customers to sit "forever" playing with computer & mobile with NO minimum spending nor maximum time duration per seating?? It's not fair for other guests who keep queuing up for long time! The two guys showed on the two pics been sitting for almost 3 hours according to the staff!
