Really disappointed in their management. A rushed experience last night, ruined my Lunar New Year dinner.

I have been coming to Man Wah since day one with my wife. Last night will certainly be our last! At least until their management team changes. I do not recommend booking during the holiday period as they try to maximize their business and then rush you out the door.

I booked for the first seating on the 23rd at 6pm understanding that the table needs to be returned at 8pm. During the whole dinner dishes were overly rushed even for other diners tables as we noticed.

The wait staff on 3 occasions pointed at my wife's food as if she needed to hurry up and eat for the next course as I ate slightly faster. Bit rude, never experienced that before at Man Wah or even lower end restaurants.

We were already eating rather fast as we were extremely hungry yesterday evening and dishes did arrive quickly. I must admit the food was good, as always.

In the end we finished all the set menu dishes at 7:30PM well before the 8PM limit.

The nail in the coffin was when your male manager / wait staff brings me the bill at 7:45PM and asks if I can "settle first" Not a problem! at 7:50 he asks if I "would like to take my bottle of wine home", I ask him what the rush is for us to leave? He mentions the 8pm table time limit.

I politely told him we had 10 minutes left it was 7:50PM and that my bottle wine was not finished! and that I would have it until 8pm. I also mentioned it was rude to be so pushy and that there were clearly seven (7) other empty tables which i pointed out to him and asked to politely give me some leeway so I could enjoy the quarter of my wine left in the bottle with my wife before 8PM.

He agreed and eventually said I could take my time. At this point I felt unwelcomed and disgusted at his handling of the situation. I proceeded to drink the remaining quarter of my 2500 HKD bottle of wine and left at 8:02PM. So that they could now have eight (8) empty tables for their next seating of which nobody arrived exactly at 8PM.

Appalled by his handling of the situation, I proceeded to go to Aubrey next door at 8:05PM for two more bottles of wine with my wife and invited some friends to enjoy a much more relaxed experience, to make up for last night's disaster at Man Wah.

They could have offered to move us and the wine to another location or bar if they were caring or considerate. No grace, no consideration just pushy and In a hurry like robots on a production line.

Didn't receive an apology for their unnecessary rushed service either, what a shame. You lost my business...

I hadn’t been back in HK for 9 years and I knew I wanted a special meal for this visit. My research led me to Man Wah, and with the Mandarin Oriental holding so many dear memories for me it seemed like the perfect choice. We were first “greeted” by the hostess who frankly seemed like she just didn’t want to be there. We were a little early so we just wanted to let her know we were be downstairs checking out the chocolates in the bakery. When we came back up she acted like she had never seen us before and asked for our name yet again. Strike 1. Our table however was perfect, and I think maybe the best one since we both had fantastic views. Our server seemed rushed but polite. We made our choices and were on our way. I went with tasting course A and my husband went a la Carte with A5 wagyu and fried rice. My courses were tasty but not knock your socks off tasty and certainly not worth the price tag. I added an extra four gras & duck dim sum which they allowed, seemed like something they get asked for a lot. Glad I did as it saved the meal. I guess we were paying for the view. I really didn’t enjoy that our lovely table was situated next to the main service station and I kept seeing and hearing the rushed staff dumping dishes, sighing with frustration and even dropping plates. I thought this was supposed to be Michelin level but the experience was far from it. Easily my main regret meal of the whole trip. Wish I could go back in time and cancel the whole experience. There are plenty of places in the city with amazing views, better food and better value. I remain...

We had high expectations given that the hotel itself is a great place with an outstanding service, however this dinner was very disappointing! The service was very poor, absolutely not appropriate for a michelin star restaurant. As soon as we have ordered the food and beverages, we have been ignored, no proactive offering of additional food/drinks, the dishes were explained in very poor english. The chef de service came only at the beginning but he gave insufficient recommendations, as the ordered food as not enough so we gad to order additional dishes which came in a bad order. After ordering we felt like we got ignored and treated worse (perhaps because we ordered no alcoholic drinks but just non-alcoholic wine - which by the way was similarily expensive as regular wine) - the staff acted ver arrogant which is not acceptable, especially for hotel guests. In addition the atmosphere was not enjoyable as servers were running around very hectically and it felt very unprofessional and not client friendly. We haven been visiting the day after the other restaurant (MO Grill & Bar) which was more expensive but provided by far thw better food and perfect service despite having no michelin star. The Grill & Bar is definitelty the better choice for dinner in the Hotel, and for a traditional dinner there are many other (external) restaurants that provide a better experience (both in terms of food and service quality and atmosphere) for a cheaper price. Disppointing - we will come back to the hotel but not to...

Food was good. Restaurant was nice. View was great. Service was quick and attentive. But I expected more. It's the mandarin oriental and I was expecting an excellent experience. We had a good experience instead (8 out of ten so 4 stars out of five). Our waiter spoke an incredibly broken English, I could barely understand him and most of the time I had to ask him to repeat and I could sense he didn't really enjoy repeating the same thing twice every time. Our table was kind of boring and just had an insignificant tiny plant which looked kinda pointless. Frankly I would replace that with something else. The table looked cheap and lame. This is a five star hotel. I'm not expecting anything absurd here. And it was just too dark despite the fact we were very close to the window. The fried rice was incredibly boring. Dim sums were good tho. Good experience, but I had lunch at the mandarin oriental in Geneva, Tokyo and other cities. And it was a better experience in other places. My experience in Tokyo for example was excellent. Here it was good. Time to improve to add that extra star.
