Kaffeine opened up on Jervois Street a couple years back. It is one of a handful of coffee shop/cafes along this street in Sheung Wan. Opening hours are 8am to 6pm (weekdays) and 10am to 6pm (weekends).
Kaffeine is a clean and tidy place with a small indoor seating area but with tables distanced fairly apart. They also use large plastic screens to help separate patrons. You can also order take-away and delivery from Kaffeine if you prefer to have coffee and/or light bites from their menu from the comfort of your home, office or area hotel.
I find the espresso fine at Kaffeine, it leans towards the citrus and bitter side of the spectrum and is fairly bold, a nice blend for flat white coffees. As for food orders, we have very much enjoyed take away orders from here recently as well. On these occasions, the truffle scrambled egg with Parma ham in croissant has been nothing short of outstanding. The croissant is flaky, the Parma just salty enough and the truffle eggs delicious. These have been no less enjoyed than elegant breakfasts in our higher end hotel restaurants around the city.
Almost as good has been the smoked salmon & avocado egg mayo croissant. While less enjoyed to the truffle egg and Parma croissant, this was very good as well. Served with salad or thick curly sidewinder fries we have really liked the Kaffeine's croissant sandwiches as of late.
Overall, amongst the many similar coffee shop and cafes on Jervois Street, Kaffeine is our top choices right now for food orders. They have done nothing short of an excellent job with our recent food orders and we look forward to having...
Read moreKaffeine used to be one of my fave places.
Coffee is really good and the food is really good as well.
Went there today and was squeezed into a two person side table.
Couldn't even put my bag down.
Asked to sit in a larger table, and said it was for four people. There was a partition in the middle and it was two tables side-by-side. Nonsense.
Now it was 11 am and no one was in the shop, and the waitresses could have easily just given that space-- we were going to leave in 20 mins anyway, but didn't see the point in asking.
Those two girls should really have some common sense in customer service.
Message to the owners of Kaffeine:
So now essentially, you have someone (me) who works around Sheung Wan and really preferred to go there over other coffee places (prob spends about HK$300-400 every time I go (at least because I buy cakes and scones as well))-- now will prob not go there again.
It is a real shame, because I liked the food and coffee.
I hope the waitresses can fill up that empty table you didn't want to give to us with phantom customers.
(BTW, went to coffee academics right across the street and those guys let us sit wherever we wanted. Their food isn't as good as yours-- but customer...
Read moreVery rude staff, we came in for drinks around noon time, we understand there’s also lunch service, but when we entered, and let the staff know we want to drink only, one of the staffs immediately loudly say “oh they’re here for drinks only”, like it’s a crime to drink at cafe, and we are not welcomed because we’re ordering drinks only.
And we were asked multiple time, because you only order drink we’ll need to give you a limit of dining time, oh and apparently there’s minimum spend too? I made it really clear we’re just here for one hour, but the staffs were so rude to us, and looked so annoyed because we are just ordering drink.
If you’re opening a cafe, why would you giving such attitude to regular customers? If you don’t want to serve people drinking only and want to make them a must to order food, you could have just stated it, like certain hour need to order with food, but there’s no mention, instead we were being treated rudely like it’s a sin drinking only at a cafe…
Worst...
