Maxim's MX — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Stopped by on the way to the ferry and was hungry. It was difficult to order if you don't speak Cantonese, but we managed to do so by pointing at menu pictures. We got a ticket number and waited for it to be called on screen while waiting for a table to clear up. The place was quite packed for lunch with locals.

One thing I realized about this chain restaurant: it is reasonably priced. That's why the locals patronize it. And their meals are simple and generous. I had a bunch of BBQ cuts with rice, and they came with Chinese broccoli and salted egg. The BBQ meats did not compare with more specialized restaurants in town, but for a quick lunch they were still tasty. And the portion size was great for Hong Kong standard (if you've been there, you'd know what I mean), as I came out of the restaurant...

May be I visited that shop at around 8pm, most of the popular dishes were sold out. One of my order was vegitable, that dish is cold, it was not warm before handed to customers. The soup was also not hot enough, just felt warm. Overall all dishes I ordered were all not hot enough. I was totally disappointed on the food standard offered by that shop located Shun Tak Centre. I fully understand the shop is supposed closed at 8:30pm, but if you still provide food to customers, the shop need to serve customers with appropriate food standard. Maxims Palace is family yum cha place with good variety, run by the evergreen Maxim's Group. Venue is huge so waiting time isn't too long. (Important note: Maxims MX is a fast food place while Maxims Palace is a full fledged yum cha restaurant. Most of the reviews and some photos are are for Palace.
