Maxim's Palace (Sheung Wan) is a perfect spot to enjoy wonderful dim sum in Hong Kong. Located in the basement level of Shun Tak building, the restaurant serves a wide range of tasty dishes, such as har gow, siu mai, char siu bao, and cheung fun. The food is fresh, hot, and flavorful. The restaurant has a pleasant, calming and clean interior. The design is classy and cozy, with floral patterns and soft lighting. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the service is fast and efficient. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful, especially on weekday mornings when it is not crowded. You can see many elderly regulars, who seem to have been coming here for years, chatting with each other and the staff like old friends. They create a warm and happy mood and make you feel like you're part of the family. Maxim's Palace (Sheung Wan) is a great place to have a delightful dim sum experience in Hong Kong. The price of the food is reasonable for the quality and quantity. It is not the cheapest place, but definitely not expensive. Great quality dim sum, wonderful pleasant environment and quick efficient service. Try it, you will not regret it.

We saw the review and decided to go for dim sum early in the morning as soon as we got off from the airport…took the Airport Express and stopped right at the Hong Kong station and it was a quiet 10 minutes walk along the pier and there we are at the Shun Tak building. Take the escalator down and reached the place…as easy as that! As we were super early around 845 am the place was full of tables and as it touches 10am the crowds started coming in! It was a Monday btw…dishes were right on point as to flavours and presentation…service was good too with attentive ladies serving us, kudos to the team there 👍🏼

GREAT PLACE but POOR FOOD against what you are paying for. Let us review their Dim Sum one by one. 1. Minced beef and prawn flour rolls. This dim sum was prepared for a while and keep warm in their kitchen for a while, not freshly prepared. The flour was not fresh, soft and lost its elastic texture. Prawn was hard and no taste. 2. Deep fried sesame dumpling It is horribly oily. Your mouth and lip will became oily when you put into your mouth. Very disappointing. 3. Prawn and pork dumpling Not freshly prepared. You do not see any steam from it when the waitress put on your table. Both were dry, cold and withered. 4. Deep fried spicy bean curd Outside the cube is not crunchy but soft. You can buy a bean curd from Wellcome for $5 but Maxim's charged you $50. More importantly, their cooking skill was very poor, not worth for $50. 5. BBQ bun A bit cold when serving. You can smell an evil taste from the bun, maybe the over addition of flour improvement agent or baking soda. Don't know why Maxim's has a lot of favourable comments. In fact, there are so many Chinese restaurants much better than Maxim's. One thing that we cannot deny they have a comfortable dinning environment.

Surprisingly busy for a weekday night after a long weekend. Nice decor and ok foods. We ordered 4 main dishes but the steamed minced pork didn't come until we asking for it after the other 3 dishes was long finished and it was only luke warm when it was served. It also the most disappointed dish as it was just a mushy texture of a thin patty. We asked for a steamed rice and it came 20 minutes later after we have been chasing with 5 servers. By the time we got the rice, the dishes is pretty cold. The server that took our order was friendly enough but service overall is póor. For the money and the quality of the foods definitely better choice to choose from.

Fabulous place and expensive but worthy to eat. A lot of local people, food servers can speak a little bit of English. Right on time to serve food very efficient. One thing I've observed here to Hongkong majority of restaurants just give 1 napkin. The rest you must bring it by yourself cause it will not be enough to use while your eating. Credit card accepted and if you have left some foods for take out restaurant charged you for plastic bag and food container which is am shocked but every country is different . So, still acceptable.
