If it wasn't for this new tea series and rainbow cake I wouldn't have known that McCafe has been in Hong Kong for 20 years.
I remember going to a McCafe near North Point MTR station but not sure if that was the first branch.
Anyway, I happened to be in Fortress Hill so went in for the new Tea!
Out of the drinks choice, I wasn't keen on the Four Seasons Tea because it was tasteless from the shops I have tried before, but still ordered it as it was the only tea choice available.
Spotted the rainbow cake so got that as well.
The bill came to HKD35.
Visually the cup was nice with rainbows on it and there was a decent amount of cheese froth on top.
The cake was topped with colourful candy pearls.
As each layer was a different colour, I tried each layer to see if the colour made any different but it just tastes the same.
The cake was soft, fluffy and not too sweet.
Finished off with the Four Seasons tea which gave me a surprise because it had a strong taste compared to the ones I have tried before.
On top of the cheese foam, there was some dried tea leaves which enhances the tea flavour when they get in your mouth and you end up chewing them.
The cheese foam texture was thick like double cream but I find it strange they call it cheese because it wasn't cheesy but sweetened.
Anyhow the thick creamy cap and the tea were a match made in heaven.
I felt quite content after having the cake and drink because I didn't feel thirsty or have any strange aftertaste in my mouth.
Definitely will be back to try the berries drink as strawberries and thick cream go so...

McDonald's knows how to cater to the market it is in. They make items that the locals knows and loves. Currently there is a special sandwich being served in Hong Kong , and it is called My Taste of Hong Kong. Now, just how special is that for Hong Kongese? To have a McDonald's Signature collection sandwich named after your city.
A few years ago, maybe 10 plus. That would still be a few years to me. There was a Taro Pie which was fabulous to me and my family. Anyone who loves Taro anything would have fallen in love with the Taro Pie which was only available in Hong Kong.
Then there was the Red Bean Pie that followed, which was also equally fabulous. Both of the special pies was so so good to the pallet, I could never just eat 1. Not too sweet and the Taro was fresh (I think). I missed the McDonald's Taro Pie so much that I look for it everytime I visited Hong Kong, but to no avail so far.
FYI, Mickey D's Fries are my favorite...
Read moreLocation is good. It’s just located next to the entrance / exit of Fortress Hill Station. This is a 24-hour McDonald. The service is fast and good. As some operators in Hong Kong run terrible (e.g. dirty, messy, overcrowded (many people shared a tiny toilet) with mattress on the floor, noisy, smelly, unsafe with bedbugs) but expensive hostels inside buildings or Mansions of Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, some backpackers take a rest here at night instead. Some backpackers staying here may visit Causeway Bay Sports Ground and have a shower. Some people find these 24-hour McDonalds are much better than mattress on the floor type hostels. If this McDonald is full, they visit another one nearby instead. Hong Kong has around 80 24-hour McDonalds located in different districts. If backpackers choose to stay here, please make the place...
