Rùn is a one Michelin starred Chinese restaurant located at the 5-star St. Regis hotel.
The restaurant has a modern design with high ceiling. The tables are spaced out, with some sofa seats in the middle.
I visited at lunch time on a weekend and the restaurant was full. (I booked the table 3 months in advance!)
For this visit, I tried most of the signature dimsum and a couple of signature dishes.
🧐Tips: Most of the dimsums come in 3 pieces on the menu. But if you only have two people on the table, you can order two pieces instead☺️
Here is the list of what I had: 🦀 杏香荔茸松葉蟹鉗 Deep-fried Matsuba Crab Claw $148 🍏 娘惹香辣鹹水角 Glutinous dumplings in Nyonya style (3 pieces) $88 🥟 墨魚子糯米小丸子 Steamed glutinous dumplings with minced pork, shrimp and caviar (3 pieces) $148 🥩 錦繡球黑椒和牛酥 Deep-fried diced wagyu beef, black pepper sauce (3 pieces) $128 🦞 金蒜龍蝦春卷 Deep-fried lobster spring roll (3 pieces) $168 🥟 三文魚籽蟹肉菜苗餃 Steamed crab meat dumpings (3 pieces) $98 🦆 煙燻滷水鵝肝 Marinated smoked foie gras $228 🍚 櫻花蝦烏魚子炒飯 Fried rice with mullet roe $138 🍮 鮮忌廉葡撻 Baked Portuguese egg custard tart (3 pieces) $88
Deep-fried Matsuba Crab Claw is definitely my favourite dimsum🤩 The crab claw was wrapped inside a taro paste, and then almond flakes was added on top. It was then deep-fried to golden! The outermost shell was crispy, while the taro was light and fluffy😍
這個杏香荔茸松葉蟹鉗,外層非常香脆,裏面的芋泥軟滑,加上鮮味嘅蟹肉,真的是太好吃了😋
Spicy deep-fried glutinous dumplings in Nyonya style. It came with a crisp in the shape of leave - how photogenic is that?!🤩
Marinated smoked foie gras was definitely my favourite dish at this place! 😍
The smoky taste made this dish unique. The foie gras was served in a pot filled with smoke. It was bit firmer than that you would have from a Western restaurant but it was still creamy.
🤓Tips: If you have the flour leave from the other dimsums (like Spicy deep-fried glutinous dumplings/ fried crab claw), you can eat it with the foie gras. I think the contrasting texture would make it taste even better 👅
Another dish that I loved was the fried rice with dried Sakura shrimp and mullet roe. The Sakura shrimp was fried to a crisp texture and the mullet roe was very flavourful! 😍
Dessert: Baked Portuguese egg custard tart - nice flaky pastry filled creamy custard.
Petit fours : 杞子桂花糕/ 杏仁餅 osmanthus & goji Berry jelly/ almond biscuit
For the other dimsums, the presentation and the taste were both excellent. Also, the service was very nice. Unfortunately, I felt that it lacked a “wow” factor and the price was a bit steep. I was more impressed their smoked foie gras and fried rice with mullet roe!

Read moreRun, located within the prestigious St. Regis Hotel in Hong Kong, offers a dining experience that is a blend of highs and lows. My memorable visit to Run at St. Regis, a while back, left a lasting impression. The service undoubtedly stands out as a highlight, with attentive staff providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the meal. The well-trained and courteous staff contribute to an overall pleasant dining experience.
However, the culinary journey at Run has its ups and downs. While some dishes fall short of expectations and lean towards mediocrity, others manage to captivate the taste buds. The apple dumpling is a standout, delivering a delightful combination of savoury and warmth. The chips, creatively shaped like leaves, add a playful and unique touch to the dining experience. These inventive elements bring a sense of creativity to the menu, showcasing the chef's willingness to experiment.
The dim sums at Run, in my opinion, receive praise for their quality, providing a satisfying and flavorful indulgence. Each bite is a testament to the kitchen's dedication to delivering authentic and well-executed dim sum, earning the restaurant a positive mark in this aspect.
Despite the culinary highlights, the overall ambience of Run leans towards the excessively fancy side. The opulent setting might be too formal for those seeking a more relaxed and casual dining experience. This formality, coupled with the high prices, may make it less appealing for those looking for a more affordable dining option. While the experience is undoubtedly elevated, the value for money may not align with everyone's...
