Sky Cuisine (Sheung Wan) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Sky Cuisine, before the pandemic, is one of my favorite spots in HK for true Hong-Kong Style and Southern Chinese Cuisine. The relationship with the staff is complicated since I don’t speak any Chinese, but if you can move past that, you will enjoy some awesome authentic foods. The menu, and ordering in the evening is tricky, I chose by seeing what was on a neighboring table to my surprise and delight. Also, if they give you a menu with pictures, it represents a very very limited array of choices, which in reality are immense. Be careful when you order with the only english-speaking waiter in these type of venues, since 99% of the time they will suggest tourist plates and inapropriate tea. I went there to ask the staff (about 3-4 at the reception) if the food was still available at 3:30pm, one of the staff said yes, and said no reservation is needed, just walk-in. Today our team and I went there for the late lunch at 3:30pm, the receptionist said it’s closed from 3:30pm! I told her just the day before her colleague said the opposite. She gave me a very bad look and ignored me. I never expect excellent service from these staff, but it’s just too unprofessional, and what I was asking/expecting is minimal - opening time and attitude. If you're looking for a dim sum parlor that takes reservations, this is a good one! Although they lost our rsvp, but good thing we arrived at 11:30am, so there was a table for 7 easily! They take rsvps starting at 11:30am with the potential of a small wait time.

This is a reliable spot to get good dim sum! Nothing that will blow your mind - which is great, because something you want a standard, traditional, local meal.

There's like no tourist here, but no fret if you don't speak English because you order dim sum via an app.
