Argentina 🇦🇷 is an exceptionally captivating country, brimming with opportunities for travel and exploration 🧳. Compared to other parts of South America, it boasts relatively good safety, making it an inviting choice for visitors 🤩. The country is home to a breathtaking array of scenic wonders, including Patagonia, Ushuaia, Iguazú Falls, Mendoza, El Calafate, and Buenos Aires, to name just a few — so many, in fact, that it’s impossible to list them all! My love for Argentina has drawn me back more than once for unforgettable journeys 🧳. I’ve had the privilege of visiting Patagonia, including Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. However, I must confess that I’m not particularly familiar with Argentine cuisine 🇦🇷🤣. From what I understand, Argentine food is a vibrant tapestry woven from diverse culinary traditions and cultural influences. These include the dietary customs of Argentina’s Indigenous peoples, the Mediterranean flavors introduced by Spanish colonizers 🇪🇸 in the 16th century, and the rich contributions of Italian 🇮🇹 and Spanish 🇪🇸 immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. This fusion results in a cuisine that is remarkably diverse and inclusive 🤩. Argentines are renowned for their love of beef, though in certain regions like Patagonia, lamb takes precedence over beef, offering a delightful culinary twist 😋🤩
Visited this Argentine restaurant with my friend for lunch🤣
Restaurant offers Lunch Set which includes Appetizer + Main + Side Dish + Soft Drink. We can freely mix and match to select our favorite items 🤣
Ceviche: Widely regarded as originating from Peru 🇵🇪, ceviche has become immensely popular across many Central and South American countries, including Argentina 🇦🇷, with countless regional variations and interpretations. Typically, it is prepared by lightly marinating fresh raw fish in a vibrant blend of citrus juices — such as lime or lemon — along with chili, white vinegar, and other seasonings 🤣. At this restaurant, they crafted their ceviche using tuna, elevated with the addition of creamy avocado 🥑, complemented by red onions, fresh herbs, and a zesty splash of lime juice. The result is a refreshing and utterly delicious dish 😋
Argentine Chorizo: While chorizo is traditionally associated with the Iberian Peninsula and Spain 🇪🇸, it has evolved into distinct versions across many countries, including Argentina, each with its own unique flair. The chorizo served at this restaurant stands out for its leaner meat composition, unlike the richer, fattier varieties often infused with paprika or red food coloring that give them a vivid hue 🤣. This Argentine chorizo boasts a robust pork flavor, striking a perfect balance without being overly greasy — an absolute delight to savor 🤣
10oz Ribeye Steak: Argentines typically prefer their steaks cooked well-done, but the chef here has masterfully prepared this ribeye with a remarkable range of doneness: some parts well-done, others medium-well, and some medium. To experience three different levels of doneness in a single steak is truly exceptional, not to mention incredibly flavorful 🤩. If I had to choose, I might lean toward the medium-well portion as my favorite, but all three degrees of doneness deliver a rich, beefy essence that’s hard to resist 🤣
Grilled Half-Boned Chicken: The chicken skin is grilled to a perfect crisp, offering a delightful crunch with every bite, while the meat itself is tender, juicy, and bursting with authentic chicken flavor 🤣
Mixed Salad: This vibrant salad features an assortment of cherry tomatoes, red onions, mixed greens, and a house-made vinaigrette 🤣. The fresh, crisp vegetables paired with the tangy, zesty dressing make for a refreshing and appetizing addition to the meal 😋

A flavorful journey to Argentina in the heart of Hong Kong
I recently visited Patagonia, an Argentinian steakhouse in Hong Kong, and had a generally delightful experience—especially if you’re a fan of robust, flame-kissed flavors and hearty South American fare.
🥩 Food & Flavors: • Beef Steak (Ribeye, I believe): This was the star of the meal. It arrived beautifully grilled and served on a hot iron plate, which kept it warm throughout. The seasoning was spot-on—just the right amount of salt to bring out the natural umami of the beef. The meat itself was tender, juicy, and flavorful. That said, the exterior was a touch too charred for my liking—just shy of being burnt—which slightly overpowered the otherwise excellent quality of the meat. But the interior remained perfectly cooked and rich with flavor. • Grilled Salmon: A surprise hit. The salmon was wonderfully juicy and moist, with a beautiful char and those visually appealing grill marks. It was served over a bed of roasted vegetables that paired nicely with the fish. The portion was generous and cooked with care—definitely not an afterthought on the menu. • Roasted Vegetables: A medley of baby carrots, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, and baby corn—all roasted to perfection. The vegetables retained a nice bite, and the light charring gave them a smoky sweetness. A very satisfying side dish that balanced out the richness of the meats. • Dessert (Poached Pear with Ice Cream?): A beautiful presentation with deep red poached pears and what looked like berry ice cream. It was light, refreshing, and a lovely way to end the meal without feeling too heavy.
🤵♀️ Service:
The staff was friendly, warm, and attentive throughout. They took the time to explain some of the dishes and even offered to recommend wine pairings. The overall service felt genuine and made the dining experience more enjoyable.
📝 Verdict:
Patagonia offers a solid introduction to Argentinian-style grilling. The quality of ingredients is high, the flavors are bold and satisfying, and the service is genuinely welcoming. While the steak could have used a slightly lighter hand on the grill, it didn’t take away too much from the overall enjoyment.
Would I return? Absolutely—especially to try other cuts of beef or explore more from...
Read morePatagonia is one of several Argentinian steakhouses you'll find in the Central and Sheung Wan areas of HK Island. They are located just off Wing Lok St and Des Voeux Rd Central and are open from 12pm to 10.30pm daily (closed on Sundays).
Here you'll find an expected menu of steaks and lunch set menu as well for those interested in something a bit lighter for midday meals. You can dine in as well as have your food delivered to your home, office or hotel in the area if you prefer.
I recently ordered the Patagonia 7 oz burger lunch set which arrived in 32 minutes. The burger came with garlic fries, a beef empanada and soft drink (HK$188). Not bad value for money and it was more than enough food for a lunchtime meal. The beef patty was grilled medium and tasted decent. Toppings were fresh enough and the bun sturdy, no juicy fingers with this burger. The fries were just ok, didn't find the empanada that impressive compared to those at other places like Tango. Otherwise, it was still ok.
In the end, felt better about the quantity of the food than its overall taste. Nothing was bad, it is just rather easy to find better burgers and empanada at this price point in this area...
