This is a collaborative bakery by Kadorar (formerly Kadoorie) Bakery and Levain Bakery on Pitt Street in Mongkok. Opening hours are 6.30am to 9pm daily. You'll find a range of traditional bread products including the locally famous Kadorar French Pudding Buns (HK$15 for plain, HK$23 with matcha and red bean).
You can find the French Pudding Buns at quite a few bakeries around the city now but Kadorar was the original creator of this very popular local treat. They bake them fresh and put them out at 1.50pm and 3pm daily (as of Aug 2022). Usually there is a queue outside 15-20 minutes before these times on weekdays and up to 30+ minutes on weekends. The buns are available until sold out. You can buy them individually or in box sets of four. These are light buns filled with sweet egg pudding and they taste really good. I prefer to take them home and heat them in the oven for a few minutes. They are better when the bread is a bit crispy. Also, best to eat them on the day you purchased.
Note: There are two more Kadorar Bakeries around the city including their branch on Man Yue Street in Jordan as well as Waterloo Road in Ho Man Tin. The French Pudding Buns come out at different times at these places so best to reference their facebook account to find out if times...
Read moreI passed by this bakery and noticed many elderly people buying their bread. I was intrigued when I saw that they specialize in using natural yeast and do not use preservatives. When I went inside, I saw a photo of their pudding bread, which looked very tempting, so I decided to give it a try.
I ended up trying all three flavors of their pudding bread, and I was blown away! The bread has a delightful chewiness that perfectly complements the rich, creamy pudding filling inside. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, not overly sweet, but just right. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into making these. The ingredients are clearly top-notch, and every loaf feels substantial and satisfying. It's rare to find a treat that is both indulgent and wholesome at the same time.
This bakery is a hidden gem, offering fantastic value for the quality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious, natural bread with a unique twist. The pudding bread alone is worth the visit—you won’t be...
Read morePretty surprised to find a local Hong Kong style bakery that uses sourdough as natural yeast. Thus, their baked goods have a delectable chew and bounce to it. I tried the matcha bagel with red bean and cream cheese. Loved the bouncy bagel but didn’t have much matcha flavor, the texture felt really good with the creamy red bean but the cream cheese tasted slightly off, perhaps I left it in the bag for too long? Anyways, the size is perfect for a snack and $18 for two is very reasonable.
Also tried the sweet potato 麻糬 which is so chewy with a generous blob of mochi inside alongside sweet potato paste. Definitely delicious and bigger than Bon Bon but the flavors at Bon Bon is much more unique. $20 for three is quite a steal though.
Wanted to get their famous pudding bread too but only available after/ at 4:30pm 😭
