Checked out this restaurant because there was a huge line the other day. This restaurant specialises in various soups and their lobster broth is what captivated my attention. Ordered the most luxurious option with grouper belly slices, grouper head, mussels, scallop, squid, fish maw, in lobster broth. An absolute seafood feast for $158 served with rice to make rice soup!
Tried broth first and it’s not as rich as lobster bisque but has a deep seafood flavor with mild crustaceanic flavor. Amazing with rice as it is not too salty or rich that it pairs so well with the naturally sweet rice and makes for a nourishing and substantial meal. As for the seafood, none were tough and dry (overcooked) and the scallop was cooked so well. The only slight downside were the fish maw which were weirdly crunchy. The grouper belly slices were thick and meaty, and you have to get their house made spicy soy sauce for $2 if you are eating seafood, it is amazing. Same goes for the grouper head, full of juicy collagen!
The huge portion will be more than enough for the regular person. Also got their longan goji berries ginger tea and highly recommend. So nourishing with a generous ginger taste, perfect to counteract the spicy chilli soy sauce.
As for environment, it clean and spacious with sufficient ventilation and air...
Read moreThis place offers a unique type of Hong Kong style light meals,"cart (or trolley) noodles", which is a type of soup noodle with no standard menu. This is originally a very cheap food for the grass root class but it becomes very popular in Hong Kong over the years. The unique characteristics are that it is normally cheap and one can have a lot of different choices. You can pick one type of noodles, and select different types of food (like fish balls, squid, vegetable, etc) to serve with your noodle. You may select your own type of soup (like chicken broth, spicy, curry, or pork, etc.) as well. This place is very standard type, therefore it is small and crowded. The food here is a bit more expensive as compare with shops of the same type but the price is still cheap and the...
Read moreYou can take lobstes, groupers, fish maw and chicken in soup with a bowl of white rice and drink at a price ranging from $60 to $120 at 村爺爺. It seems bargain and tasteful.
The restaurant is located near YauMaTei Station, about 3 to 5 minute walk. The dining environment is a little bite small, not very tidy and clean, however acceptable.
Tried grouper, chicken pieces in lobster soup and fish maw in chicken soup. The soup of both dishes are quite yummy if you like puree, soup of concentrated favour.
To me it is too strong and psychologically feels that it contains some MSG. Furthermore cannot differentiate the taste of grouper and chicken as the lobster favour covers all of them.
Personally I will not come back again even though the...
