Knockbox is a pretty good local coffee shop. They have a few branches around the city including this spot along Hak Po Street in Mongkok. They used to occupy the spot next door at 21 but are now at 23 Hak Po. Decor is more modern and urban compared to the old place next door as well. Opening hours 11am to 8pm daily.
Stopped by recently and was served a nice dirty. Espresso was nutty, cold milk below made for a nice balanced cold coffee drink. Service was friendly and timely, prices what you expect of artisan coffee shops around the city. I like the decor and chilled environs of Knockbox in Mongkok these days. This is a good coffee shop, worth stopping by if seeking better coffee options in the area.
We also very much liked the food ordered on the day. The muesli bowl and the salmon sandwich were both well made and like the coffee, tasted better than what we normally find at local coffee shops.
Overall, this was a very good first visit to Knockbox in Mongkok. We look forward to a return visit in the...
Read moreI was attracted by the review and list of the top 50 cafe in Asia online. I came here with full of expectation. However, the experience was not as good as expected. Firstly, the coffee itself was very great. Taste is so far top 10 of my history in HK. It is special that the barista would ask the favour of your choice. Fruity or It is too bad that the services was a big room of improvement. There were no place for customers to line up and order. The location of the cashier/order place was not so good which made the serious traffic and congestion in the middle of the cafe. Cafe can be more free and atmosphere driven but inconvenience is not part of it. I think the shop owner shall carefully think about this. Yeah. Maybe the hit rate is very high for this shop and the returning coffeeholic also looks likely, but it can improve the above-mentioned issues. Well. Cafe is very subjective as feel and interest, all the best...
Read moreAs a mentor to an underprivileged student, I took my 14 year old mentee here as she has never ate at a coffee shop/cafe before. To my surprise, the cashier who was smiling to the foreigner before us changed his attitude and spoke in a condensending manner when I asked for the menu in Cantonese. I remained calm but was burning inside so I used my North American accent English and started questioning items on the menu and finally ordered 2 dishes and drink. Once he heard my accent, he shifted out of the cashier position and another staff took over. This is not the first time I have been here but I am truly surprised the poor manner of the staff. The bacon and smoked salmon on the all-day breakfast was considered a bit too salty to my mentee's liking. The manner of this 1 staff was what made me write...
