Today I tried the Restaurant Week dinner.
Tonight’s menu featured seven courses, each rich and satisfying.
The restaurant holds Michelin star and is located inside a five-star hotel. The decor is luxurious yet comfortable, with a serene and elegant atmosphere.
Starter: Vinegar-marinated Chilled Cherry Tomatoes, Honey-Glazed Char Siu, and Truffle Pineapple Suckling Pig. The cherry tomatoes burst with juice—tangy and sweet, absolutely delicious. The honey-glazed char siu was thick-cut, tender, and richly caramelized. The suckling pig was crispy and fragrant, and when paired with pineapple, it gained a refreshing twist.
Deep-Fried Stuffed Crab Shell: This crab shell was truly delightful—beneath the crispy exterior lay generous amounts of tender, fragrant crab meat. It was creamy, flavorful, and packed with real crab! Every bite was pure satisfaction. Absolutely divine!
Lobster, Scallop, and Caviar Seafood Bisque: This bisque was exceptionally sweet and rich. Each spoonful was filled with bouncy lobster and fresh seafood, with a smooth and velvety texture. The consistency was just right—neither too thick nor too thin. Perfect!
Miso-Baked Cod with Pomelo Peel: The cod had a crispy skin and tender flesh, complemented by the savory miso sauce. It was incredibly tasty. The addition of pomelo peel added a refreshing note that balanced the richness beautifully. Well executed.
Braised Seasonal Vegetables with Fresh Bamboo Pith and Fish Maw in Rich Broth: The broth was deeply flavorful, and the sweet potato leaves were soft and silky. A lovely dish.
Whole Abalone and Scallop Braised Rice: This braised rice was outstanding! Not only was it cooked in a rich superior broth with wok hei, but it was also light and not greasy. The combination of crispy rice and tender abalone was simply fantastic. A true highlight!
Chilled Mango Sago Cream with Mango Mochi: The mango mochi was soft and fragrant with the natural sweetness of fresh mango. The chilled mango sago cream was smooth, sweet, and delicately rich. A delightful ending to the meal.

Read moreMing Court is a Michelin starred restaurant and a very good place for Cantonese fine dining in Hong Kong. Reservations are highly recommended particularly on weekends.
During a recent meal at Ming Court we enjoyed the spice crusted tofu a quality starter and the Iberico Pork Lion, Shanxi Aged specialty dish, a fine pork order for those who enjoy slow cooked, succulent pork.
What sets Ming Court apart are the Award Winner dishes on the front page of the menu. These are cleverly created, presentable and delicious orders. For our dinner, we tried the Cubed Beef, Foie Gras, Basil, Cashew Nut dish as well as the Pomelo, Fried Wild Mushroom, Butternut Pumpkin, Bell Pepper, Basil and Pine Nut. Both dishes were excellent, making use of fresh ingredients. Flavours were well-balanced, complementary and simply put... very, very good.
For dessert we enjoyed the Mango Roll with Almond Crust as well as the Mango, Pomelo, Coconut and Sago Cream. Both are enjoyed orders and a nice well to end our meal at Ming Court. Note, the restaurant boast an impressive wine list and expected range of other drinks.
Seating at Ming Court is elegant and service is professional and comfortable. Staff are happy to assist with ordering if necessary. Food and drinks are served timely and overall you'll be taken good care of by the Ming Court staff.
In the end, only a few Cantonese restaurants around the city can execute the fine dining experience as naturally as Ming Court is able to do. Our meals here have been exceptional. This is an easy restaurant to recommend for those planning their meals for upcoming trips...
Read moreWe are currently guests at the 5 star Cordis hotel and thought we would try the Ming Court for an evening meal, being a Michelin star restaurant my hopes were high but it fell very very short of being anywhere near a Michelin star restaurant.
Firstly we were served the incorrect wine, starters were not advised if served hot or cold, and main dishes were not all brought out at the same time - the diner I was with was eating his main meal before accompanying vegetables arrived and my dish was served - Wagyu beef stir fried was overly greasy, and the chicken and abalone dish was left mostly uneaten because the abalone was overcooked (This was confirmed by the waitress) and too tough for my dining partner to eat!
The chicken and abalone dish was refunded which was the very least they could have done.
Food was then left an overly long time on the table when we had indicated we were finished and chopsticks placed accordingly so, overall experience was very disappointing and would advise people to avoid if you are used to Michelin star service
Update: 11/10/23 Gabriel the restaurant manager was kind enough to contact me regarding this and offer some resolution to our...
