Sukiya — Restaurant in Kowloon

Not much to say about this place; it's the main competitor to Yoshinoya and both places serve up Gyudon. There are varying sizes and toppings you can get for your rice here. Food is very affordable, with a small bowl of Gyudon running you around 38.00 HKD. Portion size is just right for a quick lunch, but if you'd like something more filling, they do have medium and large sizes for most of their rice bowls. The actual rice itself was above average and the taste of the beef was the standard marinated beef with some onions. I opted for the spring onion and onsen egg bowl in a small size. The spring onions were a nice touch and the egg helped to elevate the flavor of the entire bowl. The entire bowl was 38.00 HKD, I honestly can't complain much. But be wary, there is often a line here, so...

The food is tasty , however the price is too high compared to other restaurants in Ming Kok, expect for the beef don, others cost nearly 50 or even 60-70 dollars

Secondly, the portion is too small for a man if you ordered a medium size, while the large size only increases the rice but not others which is not really worth , they showed you the pot size, but also fill half of it !

Thirdly, the service is not good, they need you to take the chopsticks and spoon yourself , did not provide any extra sauces if you takeaway

Environment loving customers are not welcomed

I tried to order take away but ask if food can be served with the bowl they used to serve dine in customer, so that I can pour it back to my own bowl and save the world some paper bowl.

But I was told such environment protecting way of buying take away is NOT ALLOWED.

Such big chain restaurant doesn’t even give a try on developing sustainability strategy and dare to tell customer that they don’t care about the environment when the trend of whole world is to do something to save our planet? This...
