If there were negative ratings, I will give them a negative infinity. Tldr; staff extremely rude, and called the POLICE on us.
Went here at 8pm on a rainy Monday. Food was decent, though a little expensive. I know a lot of Hong Kong restaurants don't accept credit cards, but I assumed this one did because it's a really big chain internationally. We were a family of 6, had only 70 Hong Kong dollars in cash and forgot to check if they accept credit cards or not. But we thought it was fine because we each had 100HKD in our octopus cards, so that would compute to 600HKD. The bill came out, and it was 300HKD. We thought we could just ask them to split up the bill in 3 and can each pay it with our octopus cards, but they didn't want to do it. Regardless of how much we asked, they didn't want to cooperate at all. It was 9pm now and raining, and I had to run to near malls to try to find a money exchange place, but there was none. The staffs did not speak English. Waiting for the police to come was a pain, the staffs along with other customers LAUGHED AND TALKED BAD at us in Cantonese, extremely rude and honestly idk why this is even allowed. We tried to offer $100 in US dollars and they also didn't want it - all they wanted was to call the police over a 300HKD bill ~ $40. They also knew we were Vietnamese and looked down on us. The police came and finally we paid $40 in US dollars.
This was an extremely bad experience considering this is a very big restaurant chain. Would not ever come back or recommend this to anyone. Eat at somewhere else, folks. Thank you.

Read moreShockingly Rude Service! Having read and watched raving reviews about Tim Ho Wan, we was so looking forward to trying out the food during our recent holiday in Hong Kong.
We arrived at the restaurant around 9:20 pm, the front reception staff said they are closing at 10pm. We said we are ok with that, she said in a very rude tone, "are you sure you can order and eat before closing time". We said yes.
They sat us down, gave us the menu but instead of leaving us a few minutes to decide what to order. They stood by our table and pressured us in ordering quickly.
Having marked what we wanted on the order sheet, she rudely took the order sheet from us. Within a couple of minutes she came back and said a number of food items we ordered is not available, with no apologies or suggestions of alternative.
The food arrived is a matter of a few minutes, as we ate the food we can see the waiting staff hovering around our table watching us like a hawk rushing us to eat. This really put us off the who eating experience.
We finished eating by 9:40, the rude service from start to finish and pressured ambience left a horrible taste in our mouths. So even if the food was nice, the shockingly rude service experience made the food taste not so nice.
We couldn't wait to get out of there sooner, we left the restaurant just before 9:45. While leaving we noticed another table with people eating still, they was not harassed to eat quickly!
If a restaurant advised closing time is 10pm, then they should expect and let customers eat peacefully up to 10pm! Avoid this shop if you come...
Read moreWe wanted to try it cause it’s a “Michelin’s” star restaurant but it was a horrible experience. First, we went in and a lady said something in Mandarin. I told her I don’t speak Mandarin in Cantonese. She continued in Mandarin so I told her again we don’t speak Mandarin in English. Then she switched to Cantonese to tell us it’s not opened until 10am and to wait outside even though there were people waiting inside. I just waited with the people inside but she told me to go outside. And she was complaining about me in Cantonese - forgetting I spoke and understood Cantonese. I told her I don’t want to go outside cause it’s windy and I have a baby. But she kept forcing me to go outside so I did. However, when someone with a toddler came, they can wait inside!
When we got a seat (note: people that came after us got to get a seat first cuz they got to wait inside) there was a live black bug in my bowl. I told the lady and she wasn’t even surprised. However, while we wait other bugs kept flying around and we needed to shoo them away.
The food itself is ok, it’s only dim sum and nothing extraordinary. When you are in HK, you can get dim sum like this anywhere.
When we paid, the lady didn’t even look up or say thank you. SUPER RUDE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall, the service and staff were incredibly rude that made the experience horrendous. I wouldn’t give them a Michelin star. The cleaning staff in the malls have better manners and service than...
