Bupos Seafood — Restaurant in Medellín

The food was bad. Over-cooked, under seasoned. We had the salmon and the octopus. Both were mushy and with little flavor besides butter. I only ate a bit then just decided it wasn’t worth the calories.

They had the worst juices/limonadas of any restaurant I have been to in Colombia. Usually they make such good limonadas here in Medellin, but these were watered down and just flat, no froth, just bad.

The prices were high. Maybe normal by American standards but super high by Colombian standards. This made it especially disappointing that the food was so bad. Given the location and price I would have thought the food would be excellent. Disappointing.

Location was nice. Decor was good. Service was.. good enough. Great views. Again, the food didn’t match the quality of the location.

Took a photo of the octopus. This was half the serving, so as you can see the service size was decent, but we only ate half because.. it wasn’t good.

Had dinner on April 3, 2018. Both the service and food were outstanding. We had a pitch of Sangria -- very tasty. We had two appetizers -- shrimp cocktail (cold) and mushrooms in butter/garlic sauce. I recommend both, but of two my preference is the mushrooms. For main entrees we had shrimp in garlic sauce and smoked salmon fillets very pasta. All I can say is wow -- my taste buds were entralled. Finally for desert we shared the strawberry crepe with ice cream and carmel (?). Ignore the calories and order this --perfect way to end a perfect dinner. If you like seafood go. If your Spanish is poor not a problem -- menu is in Spanish/English and although I made reservations speaking Spanish the person taking reservations responded in English. Go. You will be...

Definitely the best seafood I have had in Medellin. The service was top-notch I recognized our waiter from another restaurant I guess he moved. The owners I believe are husband and wife were walking around and sitting down and chatting with every table. It is a little pricey for Medellin but everything was fresh came out perfect and had fantastic flavors. We have the ceviche appetizers which were amazing and a few other seafood dishes. This night they were out of lobster so I couldn’t get exactly what I wanted but I ended up getting a mixed shrimp and rice dish. We will definitely go back. UPDATE We came back 2 more times.
