A SO DISASTROUSLY DISAPPOINTING VALENTINE DINNER!
We had the worst food poisoning experience last Friday, which was 2025 Valentine Day.
We reserved a table pretty early, before 6pm. We thought the food were tasteful and visually appealed. Then everything came downhill at a fast speed.
At first, my hubby got reacted quickly—nauseous about 12am then vomiting about 2am--after we were back to the hotel for three hours or so. We assumed he was poisoned by the so-called “Beef Tenderloin” dish.
I ordered the “Carribean Calentao” dish and did not feel bad at the same time. Yet, I then experienced consequentially the worst of food poisoning reactions in my life—four vomitings and three diarrheas until 6am the next morning. We then knew that the appetizer named as “White Fish Tiradito” was the cause because we shared it!!!
Our waiter, Johannes, should have learned better about our recovering from the three-day health ordeal. No sleep and little care in a foreign country.
This kind of “culinary” practice was absolutely unethical to say the least. We wondered how many who ordered the same dishes that Valentine night suffered like us?
We, hence, demand the restaurant to answer publicly about these...
Read moreI recently dined at Mar & Fuego in Medellin, Colombia to celebrate the 50th birthdays of some dear friends, and I must say, this Michelin Star restaurant exceeded all our expectations. Despite the language barrier, the waitstaff went out of their way to patiently explain the dishes to our non-Spanish-speaking group.
We ordered a variety of dishes, both vegetarian and meat options, and every single one was a culinary delight. The ceviche, which had three different options, was simply out of this world in terms of flavor and taste. It's a must-try for seafood enthusiasts.
For those who prefer vegetarian options, the rice dish is a revelation. The cocktails were equally impressive, with the Fire Passion Fruit cocktail standing out as a true highlight. You won't be able to resist ordering more than one.
The overall experience at Mar & Fuego was fantastic, and I can't wait to return before leaving Medellin. I highly recommend this restaurant for its exceptional ambiance, food quality, and service. The pricing is reasonable for the level of excellence provided, and the serving sizes are incredibly generous. Don't miss out on this culinary gem...
Read moreMar y Fuego offers a vibrant taste of the Caribbean in the heart of Medellín's El Poblado neighborhood. Specializing in seafood and grilled dishes, this tropical-themed spot delivers both flavor and atmosphere.
I ordered the ceviche apanado and arroz berraco—both dishes were packed with savory goodness and presented with a creative twist on traditional recipes. The portions were generous, perfect for sharing or for those with a hearty appetite.
The service was exceptional. A special shout-out to my waitress, Joss, who was kind, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable with her warm and joyful welcome.
The setting feels like a mini escape to a Caribbean island—colorful, breezy, and lively. While the prices lean on the higher side, they’re absolutely in line with the area and well worth it considering the quality of food and service.
Would I go back? Definitely. Between the flavorful dishes and top-notch service, Mar y Fuego is a solid choice for a delicious and memorable dining experience...
