Matilde Brunch — Restaurant in Medellín

Cute place. They have good service and my coffee was good. WiFi was working well. The green juice was probably the worst I’ve ever had…I asked for extra ginger and they didn’t add it. It was overall just way to chunky, not blended properly, not enough flavor. They didn’t have the waffle I wanted, and so I ordered the ham and asparagus croissant and it had almost no asparagus and one small piece of ham, which was burnt and inedible. They took it back. They have some upholstered seats but only two with tables that are the right height to eat and work on. The garden in the back is pretty but smelled like sewage water - probably not their fault (from the stream?) but sheesh I had to move inside cuz the wafts were making me nauseous. Some incense or maybe an essential oil difusor would have really helped. Smells great...

The coffee tastes good, everything else hard to say because it never mamage to arrive to my table. I was there on saturday early afternoon (1pm), there were 5 tables taken, there were 6 people working. I ordered a coffee, juice, sandwich with salad and granola (pineaple, strawberry). After 30min I only managed to get the coffee and the juice. After I had complained and that i want at least granola to be brought i took them extra 10min to bring the sandwich. It came with french fries and without salad. Then they finally brought granola and of course with different fruits. I speak fluently spanish so there was no language barrier, but the waiters just dont care, even if they put them everything you order. I was starving and i just freaked out, paid the juice and the coffee and left....

The overall layout and interior design of this restaurant/cafe is quite nice, but unfortunately, the praise stops there. Its possible that the coffee I received was from a BIT (barista in training) but the lack of crema and overall off flavors was very disappointing. I also ordered the exact breakfast plastered on the front of the menu - a waffle-omlette sandwich with cheese sauce and bacon - and was yet again let down. The food was flavorless and the star breakfast waffle tasted like it had been left on the counter for the last 2 weeks. I would've been more excited to eat a hard boiled egg and eggo waffle. Overall a let down and if you're in the area looking for quality coffee and food, maybe walk the six paces to Pergamino B directly to the left of...
