I would like to start with a positive review : The restaurant is located in the center of the town. One thing I would like to mention that the manager of the cafe told us that service fee is not considered tips. However based on our research and when we asked other places service fee is considered tips. Plus taxes . So don’t be fooled ! The place is not designed to have guest during the rainy season. It was pouring and we had to move the table several times. Eventually we moved to another table( still had few drops here and there). We were excited about the food but that disappointed us as well. There were limited choices of dishes. one dish carpaccio that was good the rest of the food was very dry( meat), ceviche ( watery), drinks were very expensive( the quality and service doesn’t align). And we paid around $150 for the table of 4 with only 1 main dish and 3 appetizers. I don’t recommend to go there unless you don’t have any other choices. But there are multiple choices. We went to another place and were much surprised by the quality, prices, attitude: I would highly recommend to visit Cafe Rest Raul Costano Fortuna. There is a nice view, wonderful food, and...
Read moreNot to be missed when you're in La Fortuna!! The prices are on the higher side but well worth it. Quality and service were excellent both times we went during our weeklong stay in La Fortuna. The Lebanese appetizer is scrumptious and with generous portions (it says for 2 but we easily enjoyed it for 3 and had some left over). Our favorite was the Coulotte steak but everything we tried was excellent. Another standout was the Lamb Kabab! The grilled veggies on the side are amazing too!
Our server, David, also showed us the new bar opening next door. The ambience of the new bar seems to be aiming at a high-end "speakeasy" type vibe. Seating for less than 30. Not really aiming at the college party crowd. The prices advertised on their digital display were insane (and I live in one of the most expensive places in the US). $24 for a Hendrick's and Tonic - what?! But maybe they'll tone it down after...
Read moreIt was raining outside, and the AC was so cold, especial with wet clothes, made it uncomfortable.
I ordered the same thing the guy next to me had, Pesto, they brought me Alfredo instead. I ate it always... I should have turned it. I personally don't like ham in my pasta, or mushrooms. The sauce itself was ok , but they had parmesan cheese on the side and I ended up using all of it which is sad because Alfredo sauce is supposed to already incorporate parmesan.
Service was mediocre at best I waited multiple minutes trying to flash someone down so I could get a spoon for my pasta. Waited longer for a refill on my drink and awhile waiting for the check.
I sat at the bar, Tv's are in strange angles and placement.
Worst part? Upset stomach today. Not sure it it was from the cold AC or the food.
I was passing through, looked nice from the outside, I should...
