I'm not a huge fan of leaving bad reviews but this place was really disappointing. It was recommended by our hiking guide who may know a lot about hiking but does not know squat about cuisine. The menu offered precious little description which was the first indication something was amiss.
My son and dad each ordered steak, the former being a filet mignon. Both steaks came completely smothered in what was described as a stroganoff sauce which was pretty flavorless. The filet mignon did not look or taste like a filet. I tried one little bite and it was not good. The fries and couple pieces of garlic toast that came with it were also just not good.
My sister and I each got salads which were fine but mostly consisted of lettuce. No dressing was served and instead there was oil and vinegar and salt and pepper on the table which made the salads palatable. But for the price, the salads should have been more special. And, I don't know, why not make a nice house dressing to serve with the salads. Or maybe that would actually give the restaurant a little character and personality which is apparently something they are trying to avoid.
The service was ok but when the food isn't good, the quality of the waiter doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. There are much better options than this place in La Fortuna. Not sure how Typica has been rated so highly. That was not...
Read moreBefore I went to Costa Rica, I searched on recommended restaurants to eat at and this was one of the places. I am so glad my friends and I went here. One of my friends had the fresh pineapple juice and that was very refreshing. This place is definitely recommended to come when to Visit Arenal, La...

The barista is very knowledgeable, has different beans and roasts and is happy to chat about coffee. Another plus would be hand-grinding for pour overs, but I don't want to be too picky.
I was a little confused at first when I heard they are also a "grill", but the café is kind of autonomously and served by a...
