Saw all the great reviews and had to give it a try. Was seriously disappointed. The place is definitely beautiful visually. Very modern, sits up high on a hillside. I'm sure the view would be beautiful on a clear day. Today there were super thick low clouds so didn't get the benefit of the view.. Thanks mother nature. Went for lunch. On a scale of enthusiastic and friendly to downright rude, the service was indifferent at best. It really is not hard to make a patron feel welcome - total fail there. While no one was rude, no one was particularly friendly either. No enthusiasm. No smiles. No patter. No recommendations. Left me alone with the menu for a good 10 minutes. Lots of staff and not many patrons there when I went. I felt like I was disturbing the staff's social time. Bread offered to start the meal was tasteless....but the garlic oil and pepper oil they served with it were nice. Ordered carbonara as all the reviews I read said it was outstanding. I thought it was ok. The bacon was very crispy which was nice, but the dish on the whole was pretty bland. I added salt, pepper, the garlic oil and the pepper oil and that improved it, but if the customer has to go to such lengths for flavor, the dish missed the mark. Also, every time I've ever had carbonara it has always had peas, but no peas in this version. They were missed...carbonara needs a bit of veggie. No one checked on me after my meal was served to see how I liked it or if I needed anything else. Cafe con leche was good - I had two. I ordered a pizza to go, for dinner later. I haven't eaten it yet, but I did look at it and it doesn't look awesome...ordered a salami & mushroom pizza. The mushrooms are clearly canned which was a shock. If you are going to serve your guests canned mushrooms, it should say so on the menu. Very unpleasant surprise. As far as price, I'd say it's extremely affordable. For my two coffees, carbonara, and pizza it was $25 USD. One more thing...apparently they close in the afternoon, at least on Saturdays, from 3-430 pm. I never saw that mentioned anywhere on their website or reviews. And worst of all, i was trying to leave during this time and they had closed the gate to the restaurant and I couldn't get out. They could have mentioned this when I paid my check, but nothing was said. I got all the way down the stairs and ramp and had to bang on the gate until someone came out to open it for me. It does not feel great to feel like a prisoner of a restaurant...even if it is only for a brief few minutes. Super uncomfortable....
Read moreTramonti was recommended to us by our airbnb Host. When we got to the restaurant, we realized we needed a reservation but a few minutes later a lovely waitress set up a table for us. We were delighted since the restaurant had great reviews. Our waiter (Wilfred) then came to take our order gnocchis for me and a vegan pizza for my husband. 33 mins went by and no sign of our food. My husband asked our waiter and he repeat twice 2 mins, it's coming 2 mins. Finally, I get my pasta and my husband is still waiting for his vegan pizza. We can visually see our waiter getting very inpatient so we make sign to another waiter to ask him a question. Do you guys usually serve food separately? That is when Wilfred came back with my husband pizza and dropped it (not to day throw) on our table, walked away abruptly never to be seen again, no cheese was offered, asked if everything was OK.
No one even came to give us the bill, we had to walk to the counter ourselves when everyone else got service at their table.
Adrianna Co owner was at the bar and I exchanged the following words with her : you have a lovely establishment, the food is great but the service or lack of that we got tonight was absolutely horrible. We were treated poorly and it's a shame with such a highly recommended place.
She gave us 10% on our bill but we were looking for an apology for Wilfred absolute lack of class, courtesy and professionalism. His attitude was disrespectful, disappointing and a disgrace to...
Read moreOne of the first times I’ve ever had to leave a bad review for a restaurant and in good conscience I have to let others know of our bad experience here. First, we arrived our first night without a reservation and even though the tables were maybe 15% occupied they couldn’t accommodate my fiancé and I for a meal. Since the place looked lovely, we decided that we would make a reservation for the next day for dinner and try again…
We arrived on time and we’re seated on the lovely outdoor patio (only good part). We ordered our initial drinks and food and everything went downhill with the extremely poor service. It took over two hours from start to finish for our meal, and all we had was a pizza and an app. We had to approach the bar multiple times for vino/water refills, as we were dismissed by the servers on several occasions. Needless to say, we were not satisfied with the obvious poor service, and the food was one of the worst/overpriced meals we had during our stay in CR. And trust me… we had many meals in multiple areas. So, be prepared for an uneventful experience.
*We suggest hiring a private chef (for the same cost) to come to your place and give you the best experience of your life (Juan Diego was amazing, and we included private bartender) Now that was...
