Absolutely stunning spot. I have honestly never stayed somewhere so beautiful. If you are looking for a place to relax and get away from it all, this is the place. I was there for 4 days and hardly ever even saw another human. Each cabana has it's own private porch area with a hammock, picnic table, and chairs. All porches are covered so you can enjoy the environment even when it's raining, which it does daily in the afternoons/evenings during the rainy season. There are so many birds with beautiful calls, you can hear different calls depending on the time of day. Lots of neat insects I'd never seen before. Apparently there are also a number of different animals that live in the area, the only one I saw was an aguti or two. They are so cute! But I couldn't get my camera out fast enough to catch one. The owners have done amazing work on the property and it is absolutely beautiful to look at and experience. As an added bonus there are about 1000 meters of trails to hike on in their private reserve. They also have a green house with veggies and herbs that are available to the guests at no extra charge. As all the cabins have cooking facilities and cookware you can make yourself a meal of these items if you are so inclined. They folks running the place arr very kind and friendly but unobtrusive and the focus if the property is sustainability, which I greatly appreciated. Another nice thing is while you are not in the town proper, there are still a few restaurants and attractions that are walking distance away, which was great for me as I'm not driving while I visit Costa Rica. If you want to go into the bigger town area, its a short taxi ride away. Do yourself a favor and spend some time here. Very rejuvenating and the cloud forest is not too far away either. Have a great day hiking around here, stop at one of the many good restaurants nearby, and then return to your sweet and cozy cabin in the woods and fall asleep to the sounds of rain hitting your roof....

This was our third stay at Los Pinos. We find it to be a relaxing and beautiful environment, and I especially like that we can get some fresh herbs and vegetables from the hydroponic gardens at the top of the property. The grounds are beautiful and if take the trail to the top of the property there is a lookout deck with an incredible view.||This time we were in Cabin 12. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. ||The kitchenette is well-equipped — two plate induction burners; coffee pot; toaster oven; electric frying pan, rice cooker and good sized fridge. And, the knives are actually sharp! (Not always the case in rental places!) After 4 weeks of traveling it is nice to just eat in for some meals vs going out. I got a big bunch of green leaf lettuce, mint, cilantro, and chives from the hydroponic gardens to use with our meals.||This cabin has a deck out front with picnic table, hammock, hammock chair and chairs. It was a relaxing spot at the end of the day, and we had coatis wander through, and Lesson’s Mot Mots perch outside the cabin.||The people are simply the best. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and I like that by staying here we are supporting a locally...

We loved our stay with Los Pinos! Their grounds are gorgeous and include a fun little hiking trail. You can see agoutis walking around close to the cabins. We also saw an armadillo up on the trail. Birds are plentiful here too, lots of beautiful motmots. The cabins are clean and well maintained. We had a really strong rain one night while we were there and noticed a small leak in the cabin, the next morning I told the office about it and they had someone there fixing the roof within minutes! It's my understanding it was the hardest rain they had seen in a while, and there was no prior water damage so I'm thinking we saw the leak on its first night. The people in the office speak great English, they were happy to help us book a tour while we were there. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We were a big fan of the full kitchen in the cabin. We cooked all of our meals in and were able to save money and eat healthier. Los Pinos is also good place to stay because they care about conservation and do what they can to work towards sustainability. We would happily stay at Los Pinos again. For the environmentally minded traveler I definitely recommend staying at Los Pinos!

The cabin is lovely, and the grounds are great for spotting birds and other wildlife (we saw an armadillo!) Lots of comfy places to sit either outside or inside and loads of cushions and blankets if it’s chilly. The bed is small though, it’s a double but not a king so for two adults it’s a bit cozy... there is loads of floor space to switch to much larger beds though in future. I thought the farm foods were available 24/7 but it’s strict hours and not open on a Sunday which was 1 or our two days there. Frustrating as I’d chosen the place with a view to trying the foods, I’d suggest they open every day and have an honesty box for payment if it’s not staffed, otherwise the huge draw just isn’t usable by everyone. The lodges are in a good spot in town, although a bit if a walk to the main restaurants so a car is useful. The area of Monteverde itself is awful to get to though. Literally awful, the roads are terrible and it’s almost a running joke, but really it’s an uncomfortable drive and at least an hour from the nearest decent road. I’ll save the full Monteverde review for the place though rather than this accommodation.
