This place is a must in Monteverde. I had one of the best salads I've ever eaten. So fresh and delicious with a perfect amount of dressing. Olives, nuts, super tasty tomatoes, big enough for two meals! The empanadas were absolutely out of this world. I've had empanadas a few times and never really vibed with them...but these were so delicious I never wanted to stop eating them. I tried all 3, carne asada, pollo, and cheese & onion...liked them all but the carne asada was the best one. Also had an entree of chicken with mole and polenta. It was good but lacked a little in the seasoning. More salt please. Also got some truffles to go. Everything was worth eating. A little on the spendier side but totally worth it. Also very friendly service and lovely little poodle called Lolita. Super friendly. Oh, and if you are parched, definitely get a lemonade. It is slushee style, frosty and tart....

This tour was absolutely worth the price ($18 per person)! It was extremely interesting to learn from Bob, the chocolate maker himself, and they say “you have to taste in order to learn” so we got to taste basically every step of the process. We tasted 73% dark chocolate straight out of the grinder- still warm and gooey- then we tasted nibs, and 100% dark chocolate (which was then turned into 2 different types of hot chocolate, which we tasted) and then we got to compare the taste of some store bought chocolates to his completely natural chocolates. It was wonderful (and i don’t even love chocolate that much)! If you have the time I completely recommend the tour, it is very well done and...

We stopped by for lunch on two days of our trip. They have fruit smoothies which are very refreshing after jungle hiking. The empanadas stole the show for food, DELICIOUS. The meat one even has green olive, hard boiled egg and raisins, which sounds terrible but is delicious together.

The chocolateria smells wonderful and we bought some treats to take home. The truffles are excellent! Fair warning though the hot chocolate is for SPICY pepper chocolate, not the whipped creamed winter drink. A fun surprise when I bit into it, I love spice so I would highly recommend...
