This was my second stay at Cabinas Bella Vista. Six years ago, I stayed here with my best friend and this year I returned with my husband - and everything was lovely both times! The cabins aren't fancy, but they are clean and well-situated. They're located high on a ledge, so there's a great unobscured view of the mountains right outside the door of each little cabin. It's a little ways away from the commotion of Santa Elena but still close enough for everything to be within easy walking distance.||||They have improved the wifi situation since my first visit, and now there is great internet throughout the premises. We were able to check emails, etc. and download movies with ease.||||There are adorable and super friendly dogs (and one cat) on the grounds who will greet you when you arrive (if they're not too busy basking in the sun).||||Ana and her husband are generous, helpful, and friendly hosts - they consider their guests "family" and even invited us to join them for a New Years Eve drink! If I return to Monteverde again, I'll...
Read moreThe worest "hotel" experience I ever had, it was raining the day we arrived, and the room was cold without AC as it sits on the top of the hill and no insulation. Multiple insects spotted and a spider crawled onto the bed the first night. Next morning, only more disappointing to find out there is no hot water. Talked to Jose about the issues and asked for some solutions, he told me there's nothing he could do. The worest nightmare was the second night, a certain kind of animal managed to get in the attic from a hotel in the roof, and was running around frantically all night and I thought it would fall through the paper thin roof at one point. We had to quickly pack up the stuff and leave as the kids got so scared. Later told Jose the owner he simply wanted to blow ne off said you could choose to stay in a $500 hotel. Wow, unbelieable. No breakfast, no hot water, no nothing and being treated like this, it's totally a scam to charge...
Read moreWe had three lovely nights at Bella Vista! José and the rest of the family and staff were so communicative and helpful. The location is really convenient between the cloud forest and Santa Elena. I even saw an armadillo from just outside our room. The hotel has a gorgeous view over the valley and a nice outdoor covered terrace to enjoy the view from with a drink. As other reviews mention, there is a little road noise - it's close to the road - and the walls between units are really thin so we could hear everything our neighbors were saying. Some of the slightly larger rooms are in their own small buildings - that might be better if that would bother you. Thanks for...
