I have to start by saying, that this was the best food I had in all of Costa Rica. We decided to go in after a long walk from our hostel and we came back every other day after that. The staff is extremely friendly and they will try their best to give you suggestions. The menu is extensive, but everything we tried was to die for. I loved their Olla de Carne (beef stew). It was sooooo delicious and hearty. They only serve it 3 days a week, so you might have to ask if they have some from the previous day, which we did and would highly suggest. We also had their tortilla con aracache after someone else on the store suggested it. It was also delicious. They do serve the desserts and drinks, but we did not get any. You have to go through the souvenir shop which on its own is worth a visit before you get to the restaurant tucked away at the back. Souvenirs are reasonably priced compared to other shops in Monteverde and all money from the shop and the restaurant goes to local women through the co-operative. You can see who made your purchase and a bit about them in a folder at by the checkout.

Overall it came to be one of our cheapest and best meals so we had to return...

The rice is made perfectly, the beans made with love, the chicken large, tender, and flavorful, and the olla de carne and the lengua were so tender and robustly seasoned.
Fried cheese? Why wouldn’t you get it? It was our split dish that was halloumi on crack, if I could come here every day I would but it was a spot recommended by our tour guide during our short two days in Monteverde.
Also get their...
