I’m still reeling from how good this meal was that I may fail to articulate the experience well enough. In short - don’t miss giving this local delicacy a shot, not only for the taste, but just the wholesomeness it brings! You know a place is GOOD and legit when all they have on their menu is one kind of specialty dish, and LE Sturk lands! Strukli, we learnt from the staff, is made of pastry sheets layered with flavored cottage cheese (not your regular cheese or ricotta or such) making this a healthier dish to indulge in. We got seated in the backside garden which was such a pleasant surprise cuz we didn’t expect that the restaurant would be so big and charming cuz the entry is a bit basic aesthetically. That itself was a great start. The garden area is delightful and had a vibe going by 6pm itself on a Wednesday! It got super busy by 7pm and all tables, indoor and outdoor filled. Altho it was a sweltering hot day, they had huge fans and the breeze in the garden made it a great set up to be in without feeling the temperatures above. We started off with a lager; lemon-kiwi carbonated local drink - both 10/10. The Struklis take about 30-35 mins to get served - freshly baked! The wait is worth it, I promise. Everything on the menu is vegetarian but nothing is vegan. The dishes contain eggs. We got the Strukli soup first, and then the red pepper gratinate, and then the apple-cinnamon gratinate. Irresistible!!!! They have 2 versions - cooked/boiled and baked. All the baked versions have flavor choices & whipping cream goes on top. We asked for as minimal whipping cream as possible, and they were able to accommodate. The soup was a pepper onion soup with a Strukli roll dunked in it. The umami flavor was beautiful. Only feedback I have for this is that they should go easy on the oil (which, was easily scoopable; we just separated it out before mixing it all in). The red pepper Strukli was good too, really enjoyed the chewiness and the hit of flavor in every bite. They have a chilli pepper topping which took this to the next level. Because YOLO, we went for the apple cinnamon also!!!! No regrets! This was the star of the show. Natural sweetness from the apples, and the cinnamon flavored cottage cheese was scrumptious. If anything, I would’ve ordered all of the above in reverse order so that I could devour the sweet Strukli fully! Couldn’t finish it. But my God, the caramelisation of it all made this excellent! If I could give this experience a 11/10, I would! Go for it, try it. GO HUNGRY. It didn’t feel half as heavy/unhealthy/gross as a slice of cheesy pizza or random mindless pastry. It felt like comfort food. No reservation required unless you’re a big group. Big shout out to the staff/girls who served our table & patiently answered our gazillion questions!

A small restaurant selling one traditional Croatian dish , Strukli, in various forms. It is a vegetarian dish loaded with cream and cheese plus other optional ingredients. It is like a lasagne without tomato sauces or meat. Struckli can be ordered as a sweet or savoury dish, and it is served piping hot in a baking dish. They do warn you that it takes 20 to 30min to prepare, and that leaves plenty of time to try the various Rakija liqueurs on offer. A very reasonably priced restaurant compared to the rest of Zagreb and Europe! We visited in November, and the piping hot dish was a welcomed meal on a freezing cold day. Perhaps I would have been less enthusiastic had I tried this rich filling dish in the heat of summer. The restaurant itself looks like it's from the Middle Ages with its vaulted ceilings and low doorways. There are 4 dining areas in the front, back, and off to the side an alfresco area, plus some tables in the garden. I loved the atmosphere and feel of the place and the friendly service. I'd recommend a visit just for the experience.

To begin with the place is really really nice and unexpected. After getting inside, if you don’t stop at the first room, you can find yourself inside a “secret” garden, with sturdy brick walls, some greenery and atmospheric low lights. The setting and the vibe are very nice and cozy and the room where we had dinner felt really private and relaxing. They only serve a typical local dish, struckli, declined in a variety of options including some savory and some sweet. The waitress who took our order was exceptionally nice and attentive, she suggested we order the “pipi” drink, which is a local orangy soft drink (kinda like fanta). The struckli is freshly prepared so it takes about 20 minutes to get the dish (but is is specified directly on the menu). To be completely honest it wasn’t the most delicious meal ever, because it’s not super flavourful, but the value for money is great and the experience very nice. Overall great experience with traditional food that’s not particularly my taste, but a must try in Zagreb!

Delicious place to enjoy authentic Croatian Štrukli. I thought having a whole štrukli to myself would be too heavy, but since it is made out of cottage cheese, it is surprisingly light and can be finished! If visiting with multiple people, I recommend ordering at least one savory štrukli and one sweet štrukli. We ordered the roasted pepper for savory and the blueberry and sweet cheese (not pictured). All of them were delicious! I think the truffle one is a very popular order as well, although we did not get it this time. Overall, the restaurant had great vibes and cute indoor and outdoor garden seating area! The staff were a little short with us and not too attentive to customers’ needs, but I understand because it is a very busy and popular restaurant. The štrukli have a minimum waiting time of 25 minutes, so that is important to keep in mind while visiting. Overall, we had a pleasant experience so I would recommend coming here! ——Order summary—— - Roasted pepper 8,5€ - Blueberry 9€ - Sweet cheese 8€

We came here to try the traditional strukly and even if we didn’t love the taste, we recognized the authenticity of this place. The location is cool, located in a steep, narrow street. Besides the fact that strukli is really not my cup of tea, here’s an objective review from a foreigner: the one with salty cheese had a weak taste and a limp texture, but okay. The sweet one with raspberry was a bit off in terms of flavour: it seemed like a warm raspberry yogurt. I liked the fact that you need to wait 20/25 min to get served since they make your strukli at the moment, and in fact you can notice it seething when it comes. They placed us in a cute spot that was in between the indoor and the outdoor side of the restaurant. The staff was super polite and we really appreciated this. Food is very cheap. The traditional drink “Pipi” is okay, it tastes like a Fanta. Overall, I gave four stars since it’s a very nice and authentic spot for trying the traditional strukly, but don’t expect nothing special.

Oh such a must-visit restaurant but only if you like cheese! First, it's a bit of a workout to find this "hole in the wall" place but once you do....oh my...it doesn't disappoint. The cutest little patio with stone walls, creeping vines and other greenery, dim lights, simple menu...all of it works perfectly together. All the reviews are true and well deserved. The cheesy dishes are simple but rich and tasty. Ignore all the reviews below four stars. If you are looking for meat, they don't have it...it's a small traditional menue and the rich cheesy dishes(strukli) you get are more than enough. Have an open mind. The place is cheap so, yes, ignore the reviews that complain about the price. The most expensive item is 41kn($9 CAN). We had 2 savoury strukli - truffle and red pepper and the kids had "honey and walnuts". Absolutely cheesy and delicious....once again...have an open mind and if you are looking for lasagna, go to an Italian restaurant. This one is a true local experience.
