Had to leave a review as my dinner experience was extremely unpleasant and left much to be desired service wise. After having read the highly rated reviews and having seen the line the previous night, we arrived at 8:30pm and were informed that there were no availabilities without reservations. This is understandable, however it was the hostess’ change in demeanour from laughing with the previous customers in line to a look and tone of annoyance after seeing that we were dressed casually that was unwelcoming (It was a hot day and we had just returned from a islands tour). The other hostess who we spoke to afterwards was nice and told us she was unable to guarantee walk ins would be seated but to try again in an hour.
An hour later, while we waited in line to speak to the hostess, the manager of the restaurant who was also there allowed people who were also enquiring about availabilities to go before us. This was the second time we felt undervalued and judged based on appearances.
When we were finally seated due to a cancellation, the server offered us bread which we thought was complimentary but later found out upon seeing the receipt that it was €3 for 6 bite sized pieces of bread. This is fine however it would have been nice for this to have been disclosed. The food was good and portion sizes were generous, but it was highly overpriced for what they were.
It was during the payment process that we felt most offended. Because the receipt was in Croatian I asked do double check what one of the items were and after explaining impatiently, the server said “can you present your card now?” as if we didn’t want to pay. It is reasonable to ask when unsure about charges on a receipt however we were made to feel like we had done something wrong.
Spent over €70 between 2 people without drinks but left feeling extremely uncomfortable and unsatisfied. Overall a very disappointing experience and there are definitely restaurants in Split which are more welcoming, regardless of what you are wearing, and have better food at less...
Read moreMuch of a dining experience goes beyond the menu and food quality. To make a fully wonderful experience the team that works so hard to make every aspect of the experience special the people make the difference. We were impressed with the entire team and experience at Bokeria. We sat near the main entrance and a front row seat to see Ivana work her magic! She was the front hostess (in US terms) and due to the popularity of Bokeria had a great responsibility as well as a very big challenge every night. She was able to warmly greet guests with reservations and graciously accept walk ups if she could make it happen, and she always tried! She has a great personality and would make time to chat with diners when she could, furthering the wonderful team experience we felt at Bokeria. Ivana was awesome!!
The wait staff was timely but not intrusive and had great recommendation. What made a difference was they asked what we tended to like so it gave them an idea on what to recommend. We were amazed by the Smoked Swordfish Carpaccio! If available try it! For dinner we had homemade pasta with truffle and seabass along with the recommended wine pairing. Every aspect of the dinner from ambiance, food flavors, wine selection and service were absolutely wonderful. The owner, Luka made a point to swing by our table a few times to chat and see how we are doing as well as hear about our travels. Amazingly he had lived for a couple years less than a kilometer from where we live in California! Quite personable and made us feel like family. His team reflected the creativity, spirit and care for customers that he himself models. Without hesitation we recommend adding Bokeria to your must try dining places as you...

Bokeria Kitchen & Wine is a true gem in Split, Croatia, and we were fortunate enough to celebrate New Year's Eve 2024 in this extraordinary venue. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the stunning, festive, and tastefully designed interior that created a warm and inviting ambiance.
The service was impeccable—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Every member of the team displayed remarkable skill and warmth, making us feel right at home.
And then there was the food. Simply outstanding! I enjoyed the Angus steak, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, while my wife savored the freshest fish, which was a true delight. The quality and portion sizes were flawless, and the plating was nothing short of art.
For dessert, my wife chose the Crème Brûlée, which was sensational—easily one of the best we’ve ever tasted. As for the drinks, I started with a Negroni, and I must say, the expertise of the bar team deserves a special mention. Every sip spoke of their passion and precision.
We were so impressed that we returned the very next evening, January 1st, to relive the experience. That in itself speaks volumes about the consistency and excellence of Bokeria.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for their dedication and hard work, which made both evenings unforgettable. We left not only with full hearts but also immense gratitude for such a special experience.
