During our very first day in Split, by the happiest stroke of luck, we stumbled upon the absolute gem that is muma. What we thought would be just a short stop for an aperitivo spritzer turned into one of the most heartwarming and memorable experiences of our entire stay. From the very first moment, the staff welcomed us with such genuine warmth that we immediately felt at home. The atmosphere is simply magical – stylish, yet relaxed, with that special touch that makes you never want to leave. My sister and I were traveling with our mother, who has severe mobility difficulties, and the kindness and thoughtfulness with which she was treated touched us deeply. In fact, we felt so comfortable and happy here that, two days later, despite the challenge of walking, we decided to bring our mother back – because we simply couldn’t resist experiencing this incredible hospitality again. Thankfully, we found muma once more, and again we were welcomed like old friends. At first, we only planned to enjoy another drink, but when it started to rain, we thought we might as well order something to eat. And what a decision that was! The staff immediately helped us move to another table, with one of the waiters kindly escorting my mother to ensure she was safe and comfortable. That small gesture alone spoke volumes about the care and attention of this team. And then – the food. Oh, the food! It was beyond extraordinary: a divine shrimp soup, perfectly seared scallops, tender mussels in white wine sauce, and the crispiest, most flavorful fried calamari we have ever tasted. Each dish was a delight, prepared with such skill and presented beautifully. Every bite was a true experience, elevating our evening to something unforgettable. Yes, the prices are slightly higher than in some other places, but the quality, the atmosphere, and above all, the genuine hospitality make it worth every single euro. For us, it wasn’t just a meal – it was a memory we will treasure forever. If you ever find yourself in Split, do not miss muma. It is not just a restaurant – it is a place where you are welcomed...
Read moreTucked away in a quiet corner of Split, Seafood Mums doesn’t just serve food – it tells a story. A story of the sea, of salt on sun-warmed skin, of waves whispering secrets to the shore. If Poseidon had a favorite tavern on land, this would be it.
From the very first bite, we knew we were somewhere rare. The shrimp—delicate yet bold—were unlike any we’ve tasted before. Lightly savory with an almost tea-like bitterness, as if the Adriatic kissed them one last time before they reached our plates. Nothing sweet or heavy here—just a perfect balance that made the natural flavor sing.
The baby squid were a triumph of texture—crisped to perfection, whispering freshness with every bite. Not greasy, not chewy, just golden and tender, like they’d leapt from the sea straight into the pan.
And then… the sardines. So simple, so deeply satisfying. Each fillet grilled to that split-second point where skin crackles and flesh melts. A reminder that when seafood is this good, it doesn’t need to perform tricks. It just needs respect.
The highlight? A scallop shell cradling a citrusy sauce—silken and zesty, like summer bottled. We dipped, we sighed, we scraped the last drop.
The plate emptied. Silence followed. And there it was: an empty gazelle glass, a quiet witness to a meal that said more than a thousand words ever could.
This wasn’t dinner. It was devotion.
5/5 – A must-visit for anyone who wants to taste the...
Read moreThe food is nice, service is good. But there is additional 10% service fee on top of everything that we were not aware of. We are sure we haven’t been asked if we wanted to pay tip and we saw 10% additional fee on top of the food costs. That doesn’t sound very common since we do not experience this in other restaurants in Croatia. I asked our friend who was there before and they told us they didn’t pay the extra fee. This is very disappointing since we are foreigners in Croatia.
@Katarina,thank you for your reply. I appreciate your sincere and kind words. I believe you have made efforts to make your restaurant popular and with good comments. I followed the good comment to choose your restaurant so I also felt surprised after the payment. You know, I did ask the staff when I got my receipt and asked him why there is 10% extra fee and if it is fixed. He said yes. So I felt very unreasonable and left the earlier comment. You can check with your staff. I have the receipt as evidence. You can easily found this record from your side taken on Jun 6th. I understood your feelings because I have seen you replying to every single comment with humbleness and kindness. I felt very disappointed on that day so I want you to see this comment and know...
