Singer Pub — Restaurant in okres České Budějovice

I've been travelling for a month and have stayed in many hostels, hotels and guest houses along the way. This place was the best value for money. ||We booked a double room and it was actually a nice, roomy apartment with a kitchenette with an electric hob, fridge and dining space and a private bathroom with a powerful, hot shower.||The apartment was clean and new-looking throughout and the bed was huge and easily the most comfortable bed I've slept in on my travels. ||There are laundry facilities and also good WiFi connection.||We had to check in at the bar in the pub underneath the hostel. The staff member that checked us in simply showed us our room and told us to check out whenever we liked. I like this no-nonsense approach. Too often you spend 30 mins checking in whilst the receptionist talks you through everything. This is not the case here, you get your key and you get shown to your room. Perfect for a weary traveller! ||We were too tired to pop down for a drink at the bar, but it seemed lively as it was a Saturday night. There is some noise from the pub but I think if you book a room above a pub you can't start moaning if it gets a bit noisy! It didn't bother us, it was almost cancelled out when we shut the window and door. ||There is no reception desk as such so our only complaint is that when we wanted some travel info and coffee in the morning, we were greeted with a closed door. Had the misfortune to stay here December 2014. Staff were miserable upon our arrival, didnt offer to show us to our room,so we found it ourselves. Room seemed to be unheated at the time [ snowing outside, so we could have done with some heat ]. Nice large damp patch on the wall. Dumped our bags and returned to the bar for a drink. No atmosphere there, smoking area really cold*, asked the staff if the heating could be put on in the room then left for the evening. ||Returned some hours later to sleep, cold room again and lots of noise from the bar. Carried on for hours, both music and voices, plus voices from the courtyard [ smokers, presumably ]. The glass bottles being emptied into an ouside bin seemed to signal the end of it all at about 3.30am||Perhaps the ideal place to go if you're on some booze cruise,...

Вторая мини-пивоварня в České Budějovice порадовала намного больше. Мы пообщались с хозяином Radim, который рассказал много всего интересного. Но по порядку. Пивоварня была основана два года назад, до этого на ее месте двадцать лет была кухня ресторана Singer, который теперь превратился в паб. Интерьер шикарный – у каждого столика можно видеть швейную машину "Зингер". Радим не стал изобретать велосипед, а нанял пивовара, который двадцать лет работал в Budějovický Budvar. Поэтому техпроцессы получились отличными, а вот насчет экспериментов – весьма ограниченно. Никакого вам IPA, только медовое зимой, да и крепкое (это означает 14 процентов по плотности). Но вода здесь та же самая, что и у Budvar, дрожжи пивовар тоже закупает у Budvar, разве что мощности меньше. Зато пиво чистое по вкусу, питкое и просто великолепное. Здесь хочется поставить палатку и жить. Не зря бар заполняется местными жителями с 17.00 и до самого закрытия. Пивовар сейчас работает только на свой бар, поскольку использует только один чан открытого брожения. Варочник тоже небольшой – на 500 литров. Для дображивания используются десять танков по 500 л и один тонник. Варки бывают пару раз в неделю. Интересно, что на сайте пивовара можно посмотреть степень готовности каждого танка. Отличная идея!
