So this place will definitely get everyone's attention, it is a part of a very luxurious hotel. Old time grand hotel vibes and all, but with a modern fancy touch ofc. Ok let's start with the positives: it is always packed, and even with that the girl working at the front desk made sure to get me a place within 10 minutes of waiting in the hotel lobby. Really, no problem, she took the effort. The coffee - good, nothing special, nicely served. The chocolate mousse cake, same, good, but not grand. The price is according to the place but fine, you know that walking into a fancy place like that. Now the negatives. First of all if you imagine you're going to have a little bit of a quiet time here, you're not. The people are constantly going in and out like on a train station. Also there is always someone standing and waiting for a free spot. Second, besides the girl at the front desk and one of the servers in the café no-one speaks English. So Czech, German, Russian - fine, English....good luck. So 2 minutes after I sit at my table an old guy comes to my table, says something in German (that obviously I don't understand), he is pointing at the chair, so I assume he is asking if the chair is free cause he needs another one at his table. So I say "yes it's free". Next thing you know he just sits down at the table with me. Casually. So before I continue protesting - when I first came in I was offered a spot like this, there was a person sitting alone and I declined because I assume if someone is sitting alone they want some privacy and damn alone time. So I declined and said I would wait. No-one asked me if it's OK to sit someone at the table with me. Quite frankly I don't even know if this man asked or he just walked in and chose a spot himself. All in all really not a cool thing concerning that I am a young solo female traveller. Secondly- this is basically a spa city, so people come here to relax and unwind and that is something that the staff should make an effort to provide, instead of jamming as many people as they can at all times just for our 25 euros. So if you want a quiet place, with and old timey vibe, and no potential unknown men high-jacking your table - there are other places. You will also pay less and get the same...
Read moreHotel Pupp is a well-known and most luxurious hotel in Karlovy Vary with a very long and famous history in our country. I don't really drive brand new red Ferrari, which can be seen parking in front of the hotel, but it was one of the places on my list to wisit with my family. Finally we went to the café - Cafe Pupp. At the entrance, we suddenly realized there was not any free table and we had to wait with other 5 people in the room. Finally, one family paid the bill, and we had to almost compete with the others who would be first at the table. There were about 6 waiters, but we still had to wait about 10 minutes to get a menu card. Still, the table was not cleaned. Another 10 minutes to place the order and other 15 minutes to get 2x coffee, one sparkling water, one lemonade, and 2 cakes. The room was very noisy due to an additional 10-15 people waiting for a free table in the room, which was really not comfortable. From what I could see, the staff here was not really well organised, and it sometimes looked like chaos. Before we got the things which we ordered, I decided to go on a toilet. The toilet was really smelly and I would not really expect this. Moreover, the floor was sticky. Back to the Caffè. Coffee Pupp contains coconut ice cream and Becherovka. The combination seems to be interesting. However, particles of the coconut were disturbing. Coffee Julius Meinl was not tasting so well, and the best item from the list of ordered items was orange lemonade, which was created most probably from fresh juice and water. The café is offering spa cup for spring water and coffee cup with brand of the hotel. Unfortunate placement of these articles causes that in case of purchase, the waiter has to ask the customer sitting next to the show case to get off the seat to be able to access the goods. If there is so much traffic inside of the café, it should be regulated at the entrance, I would eventually consider usage of tablet as an order interface for waiters which could speed up order intake and coul reduce movement of the staff inside of the café. Good experience, great disappointment. Thank you, but I'm not likely...
Read morePrave sedime v teto kavarne.
English: We are just sitting in this Caffe, place is beautiful but the personnel... I have not such experience for long time and it is big disappointment in such place. First contact with personnel was 21 minutes since we sit at table (right next to the bar and all personnel were passing around like we are invisible until I have to catch myself. Getting 2 coffees and a cake took 39 minutes. And we were not alone. I have notices that several customers left the their tables after being ignored for a while. I did not have feeling that the place was crowded but definitely 9 members of the crew were not able to serve as expected in 5 star place. On TOP of that is what I saw at next table where waitress overthrow hot water on legs of one customer and hurt him. In this moment I would expert head of restaurant to come and hit the floor, flood the man with tons of apologies. Non of that. The waitress disappeared, another one brought new tea and all the staff walked around like nothing happened. Unbelievable. The young girls as personnel are cute and nice, but with no experience manager, the experience is like from some students bar. Not worthy of 5 star...
