Pizzeria La Famiglia presents itself as a family-style Italian eatery, aiming to deliver a casual and welcoming dining experience. In practice, however, the visit revealed considerable shortcomings in both service and execution. During my meal, the service was inattentive and disorganized—not only were incorrect dishes brought to the table, but there were no apologies or attempts to rectify the mistakes. Staff remained largely disengaged, contributing to an overall sense of indifference. I ordered a pizza with buffalo mozzarella, which arrived noticeably cold. The mozzarella itself was overly moist, releasing water upon cutting, which left the pizza soggy and unappetizing in texture. While the dough showed promise in taste and structure, these qualities were undercut by the presentation and temperature. Given the lengthy wait, poor service, and substandard food handling, the experience felt far from justifiable—especially at the price point, which far exceeds what’s reasonable for the quality offered. For context, just a few hundred meters away, one can dine at the Grandrestaurant of Hotel Pupp, where well-composed cuisine is served in a refined setting with genuinely courteous service—at a price that feels more in line with the experience offered. In short, Pizzeria La Famiglia may have the look of a welcoming Italian venue, but based on this visit, it lacks the care, attention, and consistency to deliver on...
Read moreWe hit up La Famiglia in Karlovy Vary for dinner, and damn, it’s a bittersweet vibe, a classic love-hate setup! I got the prosciutto cotto pizza for 320 Kč, and my love went for the prosciutto crudo at a wild 390 Kč. Gotta say, the pizzas were straight-up delicious, Neapolitan crust, legit toppings, the kind of stuff that makes your taste buds do a happy dance and makes you forget for a second how broke you’re about to be. But then reality smacks you in the face. Get this, a 75 cl bottle of plain water (yes, WATER) for 95 Kč?! Not mineral water from a glacier, not a relic from Lourdes, not blessed by the Pope himself and bottled by certified virgins, just a generic Czech brand in a glass bottle. Ninety-five crowns? Place was packed, no doubt the quality’s there, but you’re gonna need a second job to recover from the bill. Food’s fire, but your bank account’s gonna be...

Why though 4/5 ?
Honestly pizza was really tasty and I really can confirm that this is a true Neapolitan pizza, but it was borderline cold. We will come one more time to see if that was a one time mistake, or common practice. At this moment I am not yet ready to say if that’s a tourist trap or a place worth visiting, will leave one more review after second visit.
I can also say that server apologised for pizza being cold and suggested us a complimentary limoncello :)...
