very disappointed by our experience in this restaurant. We had planned to come here for our final tea before heading home on our holiday and left feeling judged. To start with I want to preface that the two girls who greeted us at the door and showed us to our table were absolutely lovely and loved our experience with them (unfortunately we did not get their names). There was also 2/3 Trainees who did not have their name displayed on their tshirts who also did an amazing job and we could tell they were trying so hard to make the experience more enjoyable. Our problem lies fully with a specific employee Karol. He started off really nice and took our order, our drinks came out super quickly however it soon became apparent how he treats the trainees as one brought some food to our table which wasn’t ours and Karol shows him the correct table by interrupting him and rolling his eyes at the trainee. Not a big deal but you could tell it knocked the trainees confidence. Next up my mums meal did not come with the rest of the food. We had to mention it to Karol 3 times before we finally got the food 15 minutes later. Every time we mentioned it he would say “err right i’ll see if i can sort it” proceed to disappear for 5 minutes and then come back and ask if everything was okay, as if he had forgotten about what we asked. After 15 minutes a trainee that we had never seen brought the meal over and was apologising profusely. We told him not to feel bad as this had nothing to do with him and thank you so much for stopping what he was doing to sort us out. As soon as the meal was on the table Karol was back asking if everything was okay and acting like the saviour. We ordered another sprite and it took 20 minutes to then get that. We were almost finished however me and my partner were still eating and Karol comes and just starts taking plates away and begins rushing us, despite there only being around 5 tables in use. He then brings over the cheque and card reader and my mum asks for 2 minutes so we can all transfer the money over to her and Karol starts shoving the card reader in her face exclaiming that we had to “PAY PAY PAY” to which my mum had to physically put her hand up to her face to stop him. We decided due to the experience not to tip, especially because we assumed the tip would go straight to Karol and when we chose that his demeanour changed instantly. He then snatched the card reader and said “you can tell you’re from England because you cannot be bothered to tip” and then walks off. We still had a bit of our drinks left however felt too uncomfortable to finish them as he then proceeded to just walk around and glare at us the entire time. We suspect he went over to another table and started talking about us as they all started looking at us. I would like to point out that every other restaurant we had been to we had tipped generously and as someone who works in the service industry and I like to tip when I go out, however with Karols attitude and the whole experience I did not feel it was justified. We did spend £95 on 4 meals and 5 drinks.
In terms of food it was sub par. The burger does not come with any fries which I can understand however at £16 you do expect to get something with it. The burger bun was also dry. The caesar salad was 90% lettuce core and the flatbread was dripping with grease.
Would not recommend especially if you are a tourist. A lot of money for a very sub par experience. However again, all servers and workers were absolutely lovely, just unfortunately Karol ruined the...
Read more5 of us were in town from London for the weekend and I had booked various places for food (lunch and Dinner) and pre drinks before our nights out; on the first evening we came to Fat Cats Downtown and from being welcomed in by Elena and Maria to being catered to by Viki and Olena we were made to feel super welcome and put straight at ease as a group of guys from London. The food was also better than expected from a “grill” restaurant and the portions were substantial. We ended up staying for a few drinks and coming back for pre drinks before our first night out and again were looked after by all the staff; Olena, Viki, Tony, Raul, Denis, Elena, Maria, Anna and Niky. Other members of staff also made sure we were okay; even if we weren’t in their section. After this experience we decided as a group to return for dinner on the Saturday; lunch and Dinner on the Sunday and same again on the Monday before catching our flight back to the UK. The other venues I had booked we felt couldn’t compete with what this place offered our group; good food, good vibes and a team of friendly staff who completely looked after us; this including the front of house team who all did a great job; but special Mention to ELENA who went the extra mile, even though she was incredibly busy, this doesn't take away from all the staff we encountered throughout our trip; including Maria, Matej, Daniela, Katerina, Hoji and others I didn’t get a name from or see it on the uniform. We said whoever is in charge of recruiting the Hostess at front of house, the waiters and waitresses and the management teams needs a pay rise.
Olena and Elena were very thoughtful to say good things about our group; a nice personal touch and didn’t have to be said on the last day as we were leaving; but If we would come back to Prague; this would be a major factor as to why we would be back at Fat Cats for most of our our meals and drinks
A GREAT place!!!
Well Done Team 💙 (See ya...
Read moreSoul Love is a newly-opened Japanese restaurant and bar on Prague’s Wenceslas Square. Located within the Hotel Jalta, the ultra-stylish decor is an Instagrammers dream. We went to try the lunch menu.
We were greeted by a beautiful hostess. The interior space is extravagant. The circular bar is at the rear and looks like a perfect place for night-time cocktails.
The lunch menu provides an opportunity to visit and sample the food, without breaking the bank. On the day of our visit, main courses ranged from 178 Kč to 328 Kč. A bottle of Matuška California beer was 120 Kč.
All the staff were friendly and professional.
Edamame (young green soybeans) were delivered to our table. You’re supposed to remove the beans from the pod – but apart from some strange glances, from your Japanese friends, you’ll survive if you eat the whole thing like a mangetout! The Japanese are expert at removing the beans using their teeth – I just use my fingers.
We started with a selection of lovely bite-sized maki sushi. The ginger was the only part that wasn’t to my taste, but that’s probably because I’m used to the version in my local Japanese restaurant.
For a main course, we chose a Chicken Katsu Curry (238 Kč). This is a combination of a katsu (a cutlet coated with flaky japanese panko) and a curry with rice. What was historically two courses is now a classic Japanese dish.
This was a delicious dish and a very generous portion of katsu.
The macha ice cream was served on ice. I think this would work even better if the ice was made from macha tea.
We really enjoyed our lunch at Soul Love. The evening menu prices may raise some eyebrows from locals, but tourists aren’t likely to be discouraged when looking for stylish fine dining. The rear bar looks like a perfect evening location for the young...
