It's a mix bag on this one. However, overall, I would rate this experience as 3 out of 5 stars.
Here is why.
We paid for the Junior Suite, and here is my review of the hotel and the room.
Location - Pro
Location within walking distance of Old Town Prague so you will be right in the mix of things. Transportation in Prague is cheap but you can walk to all the good locations.
Parking - Con
While the website says "Parking is available," ensure that you book in advance with the hotel because there is limited parking. We ended up parking about 900m away.
Reception - Con
It unfortunate that I had to rate this as a Con because the person we met at the reception when we checked in was really nice and helpful but the day shift (next day) was just downright rude! The reception area is very small for a 4-star hotel even if it's a city centre hotel. The environment felt dingy and more akin to a 3 - or two star hotel. They really need to do something about this as its the first thing you see.
Room/ Suites - Con
The suites are smaller than I expected, but they were comfortable. The bathroom is nice. Our suite had a lovely balcony almost the same size as the suite with a great view. I can't comment on the rooms as we did not stay in one.
The air conditioning is very weak, and in the blistering Czech summer heat, the Suite felt a little uncomfortable at first, but it got better after an hour or so.
The bathroom sink did not drain well and filled up quickly to the point of overflowing.
There is no shower, just a bathtub with a screen, but this is typical for Czech.
We had to ask for hand wash as none was left in the room.
The TV did not work.
We went out and returned in the afternoon, and the room had not been serviced. We complained to the reception and his reply was "So!"
Breakfast / meals - Pro
They serve a good spread for breakfast, and the dining area is quite nice.
Price - Con
At first, I was quite happy with the price we paid. It's about average for a 4-star hotel, but I expected it to be a little cheaper in Prague. However, after the incident with the room not being cleaned, I felt as if we were paying 4 star prices for a 3-star service.
Overall - 3 out of 5 stars.
There are certain things one would expect from a 4 - or 5-star hotel, and on this occasion, the Ramada Prague failed to deliver. Even as I write this review, we are still waiting for the beds to be made.
I understand that things will go wrong, but the attitude of the reception was the biggest turn-off for me.
We would not stay here again, and if you are staying in Prague, I recommend that you don't either.
PS.
So, after waiting 3 hours for the room to be cleaned, I finally gave up and complained to the manager who promised to get the room cleaned.
We went for a walk and dinner and came back to find the room looking clean, but they did a terrible job.
Before we left, we ate some pastry in bed, and the crumbs fell in the bed. We came back to find the bed made, but the crumbs were still there in the bed.
Ramada, you need...
Read moreI stayed in room 603 from 11.08 to 17.08. The quality of the room I stayed in was comparable to a cheap hostel in an Asian country. See for yourself: spider web in the room, - dirty, stained and stained lampshades, - mold in the shower, - broken soap dispensers, - dirty stains in the toilet, - a disfigured hair dryer, - plaster that falls on the head, - stains and dirt on the chairs , - dust and debris under the bed, - mold and rust on the shower hose, - broken door stops. I asked to bring me an iron and ironing board to my room. The board was all stained and streaked, the iron was broken and dangerous to use. The fact that the room is not cleaned is clear from the receipt of the past guest, which I found in the table.
For several days I demanded a meeting with the manager through the reception staff. Several times they made an appointment for me, but your employee never came and, as a result, refused to speak even on the phone. Girls from the dining room came to me, they spoke Russian, but only made a helpless gesture. Nobody could help me and put the room in order.
I can't blame the staff, I just blame the incompetent, incompetent manager of this hotel. He does not know what is happening in his hotel in the very center of Prague !!! He really didn't speak to me and react to my complaints.
I find such living conditions outrageous. Several times after the trip, I called the hotel and asked to contact me to leave a complaint - there was no reaction. For my part, I intend to give as much publicity as possible to that mess and horror of conditions in your hotel. You are unworthy to receive guests, this is not a hotel, this is a barn for animals. At the same time, I want to note that all the front desk staff were nice, kind and...
Read moreAppalling Experience – Definitely Not a Four-Star Hotel
This hotel should not be classified as a four-star property by any means. The room furnishings are outdated and give the impression of a cheap hostel. Even getting to the rooms is unnecessarily complicated – to reach the second floor, you have to use two separate elevators, which is highly impractical and confusing.
But the worst part came in the morning. No one informed me about the breakfast hours. When I entered the breakfast room at 10:15 (which was open and had people still eating), I received no notice or explanation. Instead, the staff started yelling at me without warning, demanding I leave immediately because breakfast was over. It was pure arrogance and a complete lack of professionalism.
After a several-minute confrontation, I asked to speak with the hotel manager. While she spoke without yelling, she still did not bother to apologize for what had happened.
In summary: this hotel relies solely on its great location. In every other respect, it looks and operates like a substandard hostel. The staff behave accordingly – unprofessional, rude, and lacking basic courtesy. This is not even up to the standards of a two-star hotel.
If you’re swayed by the positive reviews, be cautious – based on my experience, I strongly suspect many of them are paid. Thankfully, there are plenty of genuine one-star reviews that reflect the real situation. Pay attention to those, and avoid this...
