This place really is a hidden gem! Even tho the owner didn't speak English very well he did his best to be helpful and was very kind. The atmosphere was nice and comfy, more a pub than a restaurant but that's something I quite like. The food was really cheap but super delicious. We had duck with krauti (like the German cabbage) and some kind of a Czech version of the beloved German knödel (sort of a bread bun). The duck itself was incredibly juicy and tasty, the sauce was abundant and tasty as well. I'm not a fan of German krauti but here I absolutely loved it! It had a sort of a sweet sour taste which went perfectly with the duck. The knödel was, unlike the typical German one I know, super soft and tasty. We also had one of the fried cheese and some potato sides, which were also very good, but overall I recommend trying the meat dishes. The beer was super cheap and yet delicious, and we also got a dessert. They only had one daily dessert, but it was really tasty. We had the homemade strudel and we can only recommend it! We were also accompanied by the lovely live music of a choir practicing in the next room :) We'll...
Read moreWe was just walking the street and got in, to drink a beer.. Actually the beer was very good. But after 15 minutes,a guy came to us and started to sarcastically talk about, that we are foreigners and this is a CZECH bar and they will protect it from everybody. He knows there everybody and everybody knows him. The cook was there to, and barman heard it all. He's speech was to humiliate us. P.S. If the owner of this bar shares thoughts like that, so please install a sign in front of the entrance says ONLY FOR CZECH. Prague is beautiful and multiculture city, with many great restaurants. So choose another place...

I have visited the city multiple times and it seems to me that every time it is less of what it originally was the first time I visited. This place reminds me of the original experience. Simple, authentic, friendly, and fairly priced. One of the very few places that hasn't been ruined.
The waiter didn't speak any English, but we managed to communicate well using other Slavic languages. I'd recommend this place in case you want to immerse yourself in the...
