During the floods in Europe (specifically Poland/Czechia), my and my partner's train was canceled and there was no way to travel to our destination (highways and roads are currently closed until further notice). After contacting the hotel and asking for rescheduling, I was met with refusal. Then I tried contacting the hotel via Booking.com website. Booking.com did a good job writing a letter with a request for a refund/rebooking - to no avail. Hotel management also refused to help. I have noticed this problem among some reviews, and it is very disappointing that even during an international natural disaster, they still were not eager to even rebook the already paid-for room. Here is what Booking.com has to say to hotels that agree to sell their services in such situations: ,,During emergency situations, we proactively evaluate reservations on an individual basis and identify those that are eligible for FM conditions. We then contact you to let you know if your guests need to change their reservations as a result. In cases where guests can't complete their stay and which meet the FM conditions, the guests can request that you do one of the following: • Find new dates for a future booking on our platform (different rates may apply - the difference is paid by the guest) • Issue a voucher for a future stay, with the same value as the original price paid by the guest (or a higher amount at your discretion) . Issue a full refund of any prepayment or deposit, including fees for no-shows, booking changes, or cancellations". Very unprofessional behavior and disrespectful approach to people who paid them. I understand that on a daily basis no-refund policy may be appropriate in most cases, but in this situation it is just a joke to treat this way anyone who paid...
Read moreYou certainly get what you pay for! This hotel is in need of an urgent upgrade. It's in a great place but it's old and dated. No kettles in the room, you have to ask for one and reception then charge 50czk deposit (yes, we know that's not much) fortunately we took coffee and sugar. No cups or teaspoons either; again you have to request these. We had small glasses in the room which we used for our evening wine. We stayed 3 nights and the coffee cups and glasses were never washed and replaced, just left there dirty each day for us to wash up. The shelf fell off the wall in the bathroom whilst placing a toothbrush on it. The shower door never closed properly. The shower head was attached to the wall with one upright fixing, meaning the shower head didn't move at all, so to use the shower we had to remove it and hold it over us. Whilst washing hair, the shower attachment went back onto the wall fixing but then hit the shower screen and flooded the bathroom. The reception was, to say the least, shabby. TV's are in the room but only showed one news channel in English; however, the reception was terrible so don't even bother. The breakfast wasn't too bad on the first day but after that it wasn't great. There is also no bar in the hotel. I'd certainly go back to Prague as it's such a beautiful city but I'd certainly not stay at this...
Read moreA budget hotel with a close proximity to the city centre: approximately 20 mins walk to the Old Town Square and only 5 mins walk to the nearest metro station (I.P Pavlova). The price we paid for the room was very good, the room was clean and the breakfast satisfactory (although you needed to get down early to have a full selection of foods!).
Some points worth noting if you want to consider this hotel: The room we had was on the top floor with four windows on the ceiling. Two of which had black out shades but the other two did not, thus passed a lot of sun light through, and despite the curtains being pulled, we were awoken quite early every morning by this. At this time too there was a lot of noise that seemed to be coming from the staff beginning their shift.
On one particular morning there was no hot water, not just in our room but in the entire hotel. On another occasion the towels that were replaced were torn; that to me was unacceptable and should have been discarded.
Generally speaking the staff were not really friendly and the only people who spoke English were the people manning the reception area. It was not mentioned that we had to pay the city tax on departure by the receptionist. I was fully expecting to pay this but to unseasoned travelers they may find this...
