This is a great European style hotel. As is typical, the rooms are a bit small, but they are comfortable and the smallish bathroom is quite nice and functional. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet (except for some water running in pipes). The A/C worked well, which was crucial for us during a heat wave. Yet the windows opened which is important to us. We loved that breakfast is included - something that used to be common in Europe but no longer is.The breakfast is substantial and the room is quite large so that there is no waiting during the morning rush. The staff is polite and helpful. There are areas nearby to eat lunch and dinner. There is an interior courtyard which is nice to relax in. Unfortunately, Europeans smoke too much and that is where they go. The subway line is only a short couple of blocks north which will take you anywhere. Yet this hotel is located outside of the old city area which can get noisy with the bar crawls that go late into the night - not a problem out here. My only complaint is that the very fast Internet has to be signed into frequently during the stay, which was annoying. Our mistake was that we walked with our luggage from the train station. It maybe only a 20 minute walk, but it is uphill and it was hot during our visit. Don't make that mistake. Take the cheap and convenient subway two stops south. Get in at the train station, and take "C" south towards Haje. Get off at I.P. Pavlova and the hotel is two blocks directly south. That is what we did on our return when we left. The subway and trolly cars will take you all over the city. Catch trolly car #22 at that same location to go to old city or the castle. An all day pass is the best deal, but single passes are cheap. We took the trolly to the castle first thing, then slowly worked our way back to the hotel for...
Read moreIt's pretty much as I expected - a small city hotel. Rooms aren't huge. It's very clean and functional - the in-bath shower and flat screen TV both worked properly. There was a hairdryer and a small safe (free for guests - thanks!) Some other hotels charge for their safe. The receptionist was very helpful with information at check in - recommending a very good local bar restaurant (Kozlovna) about 500 metres away. The hotel has no bar - a slight negative point - but there is a shaded courtyard at the back and a drinks dispenser for coffees and soft drinks. I brought in a couple of beers from the several small supermarkets nearby and enjoyed those in the garden. The buffet breakfast had a very good choice - cooked bacon eggs and sausage, several breads for toasting, cakes & pastries, two kinds of rolls, cold ham, salami and 2 cheeses. There were some vegetarian options - such as boiled eggs, peppers, tomatoes, hummus, and also tuna. A decent selection of fresh and tinned fruits on show. And of course coffee and teas, plus 3 juices: orange apple and tropical. Location isn't ideal - it's in the new town - so allow 30 minutes on foot to the main train station, and around a leisurely hour or so to Charles bridge, approximately 1.5 miles away. More to the palace and castle. But it's only a few minutes walk to I. P. Pavlova Metro station where there are links to the Prague tram system. There are plenty of small local restaurants, cafes and bars close by - I used Kozlovna, Matylda, and Johnny Pizza - but there are several others only a few minutes walk away. I was on the fifth floor at the back of the hotel - but I guess the west side rooms may get traffic noise from the busy Legerova street on the side. If I returned to Prague I'd probably try to find somewhere more central but I was very happy with the hotel and the service....
Read moreWell in all honestly one of the worse hotels I stayed in when visiting Prague!!! I read the reviews and thought it sounded such a good hotel with great aircon we arrived really late at night on the 8th July and check in was easy our room was on the 7th floor 701 we had the when u walked in the room looked like u were in a school dorm holiday!!! We must of had a room in the loft as the room roof slanted the beds were so uncomfy and thought we were going to fall out of bed they were so small we moved the beds together only 1 plug socket by the bed don’t understand why the light switches were so high above the bed!!! I don’t know whether it was cause our room was on the 7th floor but the aircon was terrible didn’t exactly blow lots of air out and it was set to 19c and u weren’t able to adjust it to cooler ur buggered if the temp soars outside!!! it was so hot in that room the pillows were just a square thing and had no fluff to it and it was terrible didn’t sleep well at all we asked for a fan but even that didn’t do much for us the bathroom was a good and the shower was great with good pressure and lovely hot water!!! There is a safe a few hangers however I had a stain on my duvet cover which isn’t a good look |The breakfast wasn’t exactly great either good choice of pastries but that about it good enough seating area though pretty central to new town Prague but other than that hotel wasn’t worth the money glad I only|Had 2 nights staff very helpful n friendly this hotel isn’t a 4* at all I would rate this a 2*||There r 2 lifts which is handy but very slow and...
