Read moreThe hotel receptionist recommended Kozlovna to me as it was close to the hotel Ambience in the New Town. She said the food and beer were both very good, so I gave the restaurant a try - and I agree with her. On arrival around 6.30 p.m. the restaurant was already very busy, almost full - but I got a seat at a small table for 2 on the pavement outside the patio. The printed menu was much as you might expect - although I thought I could order a dish from the menu of the day written on a board, but this didn’t seem to be the case - and my Czech wasn’t good enough to ascertain why! The waiter may have misunderstood. Anyway I got the standard printed menu and chose a chicken burger with trimmings. The chicken burger was packed with spicy mayo (so watch out for splodge on your clothes!), plus crispy bacon, rocket, lettuce and 3 slices of tomato. There was a good-sized portion of French fries. Chicken was well cooked but not too dry. See the picture. Along with a large beer and two glasses of wine the bill was @ 450 Czech Krona - approximately £15. Service was OK despite the slight misunderstanding concerning the menu of the day. There was a patio half open to the street, plus a few tables on the pavement, so it was quite good for people-watching. I’d happily eat...
Read moreWent for dinner, for 2, in a weekday without previous reservation. We were promptly seated. We had to ask 2 times for extra time to select from the menu, the waitress was quite insistent. We asked for some clarification regarding the starters and none was provided since the waitress did no speak English. Ended up asking for the Camembert which was ok but unremarkable. It comes with bread. We ordered the pork knuckle to share (it is enough for 2). It comes with bread and some vegetables. I asked if it was possible to have some typical Czech dumplings as a side dish- since it does not belong to the “side dish menu” it was not possible to add ( there are options such as: hash potato, smashed potato, salad, corn…). We ordered 2 beers and a water bottle. After we were done we asked for the check and had to wait for the waitress do be done cleaning a huge table. Overall, even though we enjoyed the main course, we were expecting it to really be “roasted “ , but the skin was soft and not crispy, not really “eatable”. The service was unacceptable . The beers were great. The place was really...
