San Carlo Vinohrady — Restaurant in Prague

Generally a great fan of San Carlo , usually at their Dittrichova street restaurant, unfortunately it wasn't possible to reserve a table on this occasion, so decided to head up the hill to Vinohrady, despite from own experience not having the best of luck there, but we do love the pizza . Service was extremely slow , we'd been seated for 15 minutes before our drinks order was taken, and another 15 before they arrived to the table. Food orders were taken , food arrived for some of us , mine arrived without ingredients id asked for , sent back , out it came with the correct order, but by then the pizza was luke warm , despite the wait , some of my fellow diners orders still had not arrived by the time I'd finished, the waitress , stayed away , meaning that for the 90 minutes we were there , we were sat without drinks for half of it, is it so difficult to pop back and ask.if everything is OK? Would you like anymore drinks as your glasses are empty? . Have to ask how San Carlo can get it right at their other restaurants, but never seem to get it right here , don't get me wrong , I love their Pizza , but if I cant get a reservation at either Dittrichova or Mala Strana locations , I won't be having...

San Carlo without a shadow of doubt has one of the best Pizzas in Prague and I've been a customer for years now. What does need work is the service of some of the staff. Usually they are friendly and helpful, especially the tall chap, and lady with neck tattoo, but what isn't acceptable is the pestering for a tip from a blonde lady who hasn't done anything other than bring the bill, and then when refused a tip, turns to my girlfriend and puts me down (using Czech) in front of her.

Let's be quite clear here. We don't live in the USA where tips are customary, it's my decision to make. We have just been through massive inflation and reduced cost of living, restaurants are an expensive treat now. The prices are clearly stated on the menu.

Either fire this woman, or retrain her. I should not be the victim of attempted humiliation because I decided not to tip.

We loved our dinner there! The ambiance of the restaurant was both inviting and sophisticated. Soft lighting, elegant decor, and comfortable seating created a cozy yet upscale atmosphere. The background music was pleasant and at the perfect volume, allowing for easy conversation without the need to raise our voice. The service was extremely attentive and I will definitely recommend it to people. One standout aspect of the evening was the chef’s attention to detail.
