Unfortunately my experience as a local is very mixed...

We arrived in a group of 6 around 12pm. The pub was half empty(one of the empty tables... perfect for six people, but with "reservation" sign on), the waiter/barman insisted on us joining a couple on a big table. We ordered from this gentleman and...

Some guy... maybe German guy asked every table if it would be okay for us to listen to "drunken sailor" .. we agreed(it is suppose to be Irish pub after all) .. the whole pub agreed, but the staff decided to not to play the song... nevermind that..

Then we got served a lovely pint of Guinness (I would say this pub serves the best Guinness in whole Prague, I got shamrock drawn on my pint about a year or two ago, no shamrock this time), then three of us ordered another(after we gave back empty glasses to him) Guinness while the rest left.

Then comes the interesting part... Paying. Be very careful! The barman came to us with the receipt. 2x80CZK(per Guiness) = 160 each. My friends gave him 200CZK and he gave them 20CZK back. I paid with 1000CZK and he gave me back 840CZK, which was correct!!!! Then he came to me twice saying he gave me more money back than he should. I showed his the amount he gave me back, and he was hesitating and creating confusion. He left and came back.... "YOU STILL NEED TO GIVE ME 240CZK" I said no, you gave me the right change back the first time...I also said I'm willing to stay until you count your till, he said "you still owe me 240czk, but it's okay.. go away"

We left, but this left really unpleasant memory about this place.

The waiter/barman has dark hair with some sort of mohawk style. He speaks broken Czech/Slovakian

I'm giving 1 star .. I know this place was very nice few years back...and...

Since 2000, Glena has become one of the biggest reason why I visit Praha. I have made nice memories. Sometimes alone, with friends, even with barkeepers. I took a short trip to Praha with my friend Just before easter vacation this year. Of course, we headed to Glena as soon as we arrived (23.032023) and we were so excited about a live jazz concert. But from the entrance, we felt uncomfortable because the bar lady showed her unpleasant & stressed face against our card payment. And started complaining about guests who don’t pay in cash or don’t tip her enough. Yes, she is one of those who is enjoying ‘F’ words to feel like herself a cool local who can speak English vey well. She seems still young enough to find a right job for her but Its not my business. I just hope I do not see her face gain next time. Normally, I visit Glena every single night during my stay in Praha but this time, just once on the first day and had to go somewhere else. How sad… She dragged Glen down a 1 star spot from 5 star. If someone is reading my review, pls, understand how much...

This place is untrustworthy. I booked for this place a month ahead of time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Upon the bar’s email confirmation, we invested in flights and accommodation to Prague. And unfortunately upon arrival, they had bumped my reservation due to having received a bigger booking. They did not apologise, staff had lied to the manager about our conversation, and the manager did not initially make the effort to make amends. Despite them having eventually tried to make amends, they had the jazz band embarrass us in front of the audience. Finally, the bar refused to live up to their responsibility as a service provider and ensure that my husband had a good birthday. I do not trust in this organisation and they admitted to this fault for many customers in the pass. Please do not trust in their service especially for special occasions because they will only disappoint and are without...

Maleho Glena is a hidden gem — a cozy, family-run restaurant tucked away from the crowds, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly, making you feel like a guest in their own home rather than just another customer. The food is freshly prepared, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The beef goulash was simply outstanding — rich, flavorful, and one of the best we’ve ever had. The kids couldn’t stop talking about their burgers, and the chicken schnitzel was equally impressive, perfectly cooked with a golden, crispy coating. Though small in size, the restaurant boasts a full bar, and their two beer offerings were both excellent, complementing the hearty meals perfectly. If you’re looking for delicious homemade food, attentive service, and a peaceful setting away from the hustle and bustle, Maleho Glena is an absolute must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!

If you’re looking for an authentic spot away from tourist traps, U Malego Glena is the place. We were there yesterday and the band was absolutely fantastic. The intimate setting with just 20 to 30 seats makes the experience unforgettable. Entrance costs 390 Czech koruna which is very little for such a fun night. The band was also selling their CDs which we happily purchased and while you can pay for everything else by card you need cash for a CD. I recommend calling in advance to book a table but if you are reading this just before heading there still go and take your chances because someone might have cancelled or not shown up. This is something you don’t want to miss!! :)
